Job Summary: The Development and Communications Specialist is responsible for crafting marketing materials and facilitating both internal and external communications. They also provide support for the Office of Development and Marketing’s various functions, from individual giving and grants to events and cultivation initiatives. A critical member of the Development and Marketing team, this position will report to the Senior Director of Development and will work closely with the Development and Marketing staff, CEO, and Board members.

Major Responsibilities:


Collaborate with the Development and Marketing team in the creation and implementation of the multi-year Fund Development and Marketing Operational Plan to support the Strategic Plan.  Work with the Senior Director of Development to:

· Update and maintain Branding Guidelines and Social Media Guidelines, provide staff training, and oversee compliance with guidelines. 

· Develop content strategy and creation for all print media and digital channels, including the organizational website and social media channels.

· Develop Speaker’s Bureau. Support OPP speakers’ preparation: youth, staff, and board members, and provide collateral materials.

· Cultivate supporters through special events, donor cultivation activities, and youth celebrations.

· Support Board Development Committee and overall board engagement.

· Support Marketing Intern’s work.


Oversee social media and electronic presence.

· Design all print and digital communication materials, including Annual Report, Supporter Newsletter, internal and external communications.

· Responsible for marketing at both agency and program levels, including press releases and press conferences, Letters to the Editors, participation in news segments highlighting OPP, and overseeing photo shoots and video production.

· Create and distribute press releases.

· Provide support materials for grant presentations.

· Write stories that demonstrate impact utilizing data and participant interviews.


Donor Cultivation:

· Help with agency tours, check presentations, and press conferences.

· Help coordinate supporter engagement.

· Help coordinate large and small events based upon the operational plan.

· Manage online donor campaigns such as Giving Tuesday and Traveler’s Birdies for Charity.


Administrative duties:

· Prepare acknowledgment letters and related correspondence.

· Responsible for database management (Blackbaud Raisers Edge), including gifts, pledges, grant opportunities, and various fundraising metrics.


Other duties as assigned

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree is required. Communications, Marketing, English, or Graphic Design degree preferred.

· 1-2 years of nonprofit marketing experience with knowledge and understanding of fundraising techniques


Knowledge and Skills:

· Strong oral and written communication and design skills

· Ability to present complex concepts to internal and external audiences

· Understanding of the nonprofit sector and nonprofit management

· Strong contributor in team environment

· Ability to work under own initiative and prioritize a range of tasks

· Ability to meet deadlines and work with accuracy and attention to detail  

· Ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds

· Excellent administrative and organizational skills

· Awareness of content software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), management tools (Google Suite, Outlook), Design software (Canva, Adobe, Photoshop etc.), and Customer Relationship Management systems (Raiser’s Edge), Website (WordPress)

Salary Description
$50,000-$60,000
