The Freight Brokerage Manager is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team driving operational excellence, growth, and cultivating strategic carrier and customer relationships. This role will act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, executing the strategic direction and performance of the freight brokerage product, ensuring carrier compliance, network optimization, carrier capacity, profit growth, and market competitiveness.
This is a fully remote position; however, preference will be given to candidates who reside in the Chicago, Milwaukee and San Francisco metro areas.

The annual salary for this position is expected to be $87,000 - $107,000. Exact compensation is based on location, skills, experience, and education.
Job Duties
- Execute the Company’s Freight Brokerage strategy to drive profit growth, expand market share, and create innovative solutions in order to meet organizational goals
- Oversee all aspects of team management including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and development. Foster a positive and productive work environment
- Expand and maintain a robust dedicated carrier network to ensure network capacity
- Manage carrier compliance, performance, routings, and carrier selection fostering carrier partnerships while identifying cost-saving and growth opportunities
- Ensure the consistent and reliable delivery of high-quality transportation services that meet or exceed customer expectations
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies
- Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including DOT, FMCSA, State and other applicable laws
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, addressing their transportation needs and concerns effectively
- Collaborate with branch network leaders to ensure collaboration, issue resolution, process improvements, and identify and close new business opportunities,
- Provide market insights, competitive intelligence, and consultative guidance to sales teams
- Prepare and present regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), including service levels, carrier performance, margin analysis and team member productivity
- Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Possesses advanced use of computer systems and applications (e.g.MS Office, TMS) as trained/required.
- Able to deliver quality results consistently and on schedule. Self-motivated and follows through on initiatives.
- Experience in delivering world-class customer service skills through problem solving, rapport building, and effectively de-escalating high-pressure conversations with patience and decorum.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 2 years of management experience in Transportation or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's essential functions require the following physical demands: operating a computer, remaining stationary for most of the shift, and occasionally moving about the workspace. The person in this position frequently exchanges information using email and other electronic communication methods and must be able to observe and report on communication received via phone and computer.
