This position is located in Wilmington, Delaware. Saint John the Beloved Parish is seeking a Communications Coordinator/Assistant to the Pastor who will support the shared pastorate of Saint John the Beloved Parish and Saint Catherine of Siena Parish by coordinating internal and external communications, managing the parish calendars, and providing administrative assistance to the Pastor. This position ensures consistent, clear, mission-driven communication across both parish communities while upholding Catholic identity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, but may require occasional evening/weekend availability (with advance notice).
Essential Functions:
- Compile, design and proofread weekly parish bulletins for Saint John the Beloved and Saint Catherine of Siena. Coordinate submission deadlines with fellow staff members and parish ministries. Format bulletins using parish branding guidelines. Liaise with print vendor and maintain archival files.
- Maintain parish calendars for both parishes. Process, approve, and communicate scheduling requests. Ensure accuracy of internal and public calendars.
- Prepare and design weekly Flocknote newsletters. Write/edit copy; select images; monitor analytics.
- Oversee website accuracy and content, update as necessary. Publish social media content and manage engagement. Maintain branding consistency.
- Photograph select liturgies and events. Archive photo files and provide images as needed.
- Accept calls, schedule appointments, prepare correspondence. Handle confidential matters with discretion.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and one to three years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A practicing Catholic with an understanding of liturgy and parish life.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office/365 and Google Suite.
- Proficiency in bulletin layout tools (i.e. Publisher, Canva), Flocknote, and social media.
- Possess strong communication skills, organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to safeguard access of confidential or sensitive information or data.
- Ability to coordinate efforts between both parishes.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Willingness to consent to a satisfactory criminal background check within applicable laws.
