Description

Middleby Food Processing is looking for a Multi-Site HR Business Partner to support two locations in the West Chicago Suburbs, as well as locations in Appleton, WI and Algona, IA.  This role is essential to the effective operation of these brands and responsible for a wide range of HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, and administration of safety programs. In addition to core HR responsibilities, this position will assist with general administrative support and ensure alignment with corporate HR initiatives and company-wide objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Multi-Site Oversight

  • Alignment: Collaborate with plant leadership to implement initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture across all assigned sites.
  • Compliance & Policy: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations (FMLA, FLSA, ADA, etc.) and corporate policies.
  • Performance Management: Oversee the implementation and monitoring of performance management processes, including annual reviews, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), and complex disciplinary actions.

Manufacturing Talent & Recruitment

  • Talent Acquisition: Lead full-cycle recruitment for hourly production, skilled trades, and professional/technical roles, ensuring a steady pipeline for multiple facilities.
  • Orientation & Onboarding: Standardize and facilitate new hire orientation programs to ensure consistency in training and culture integration across the region.
  • TPS Management: Manage Third-Party Service (TPS) relationships effectively to ensure delivery.

Employee Relations & Benefits

  • Managerial Guidance: Provide expert counsel to site managers and employees on sensitive relations issues, ensuring consistent and fair application of policies across different locations.
  • Benefits Administration: Serve as the point of contact for complex inquiries regarding benefits and policies.

Operations, Payroll & Safety

  • Data Integrity: Maintain accurate employee records and oversee HRIS data entry. Conduct timekeeping audits and process payroll.
  • Reporting: Compile and analyze HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, labor costs) to provide actionable insights to executive leadership.
  • Safety & Risk: Administer safety programs and assist with corporate-driven audits, policy rollouts, and safety initiatives to maintain a "Safety First" culture.

Requirements

 

  • Experience: Minimum 8+ years of progressive HR experience, being "on-site" and hands-on with internal customers.
  • Industry Expertise: At least 4 years of experience leading the HR function specifically within a Manufacturing environment.
  • Specialized Recruitment: Minimum 4 years of experience recruiting skilled manufacturing labor and technical/engineering staff.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Legal Knowledge: Solid, up-to-date understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information with extreme discretion across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Mobility: Ability to travel between facilities in the western suburbs as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Labor Relations: Experience working with unions or maintaining positive union-free environments.
  • System Proficiency: Advanced experience with ERP/HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, ADP) specifically for tracking production labor hours.
  • Language: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Certification: PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SCP certification.
