Position Overview:


Trimitron Corp is seeking an experienced Computer Programmer III to support the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific’s Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Division. This senior technical role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and tools that directly support mission-critical PNT systems used across the U.S. Navy.


The ideal candidate brings strong programming experience, hands-on development skills across multiple languages and platforms, and the ability to support complex software engineering tasks in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and evaluate software applications supporting PNT-related systems and mission requirements.
  • Develop and maintain software using .NET tools, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and HTML editor tools.
  • Support the creation and enhancement of databases, web interfaces, and computer based training (CBT) modules.
  • Apply secure coding practices and ensure compliance with Navy and DoD software development standards.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize software for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Utilize programming languages such as C++, C#, or Java to develop and maintain complex software solutions.
  • Support integration of software components with PNT systems, databases, and networked environments.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and engineering design sessions.
  • Contribute to modernization efforts, including refactoring legacy code and transitioning applications to updated platforms.
  • Collaborate with PNT engineers, analysts, and program managers to ensure software solutions align with mission needs.
  • Support testing and evaluation of PNT-related software tools, prototypes, and system enhancements.
  • Assist in developing documentation, user guides, and technical reports for Government stakeholders.
  • Ensure all development activities comply with NIWC, Navy, and DoD cybersecurity and configuration management requirements.
  • Actively work toward obtaining one or more relevant certifications, such as:
  • Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)
  • Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP)
  • Microsoft MCAD or MCDBA
  • Red Hat RHCP
  • CISCO CCNP or CCDP
  • Oracle OCP
  • VMware VCP
  • Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of experience in:
  • Software design
  • Software development
  • Test and evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience in:
  • Database development
  • Web page design
  • Computer based training (CBT) development
  • .NET tools and IDEs
  • ASP.NET
  • SQL Server 2000
  • HTML editor tools
  • Two (2) years of programming experience with C++, C#, or Java (may be concurrent with other experience).
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy programs, NIWC, NAVWAR, NAVSEA, or other DoD technical organizations.
  • Familiarity with PNT systems, navigation technologies, or maritime system integration.
  • Experience with modern .NET frameworks, updated SQL Server versions, or cloud based development environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy programs, NIWC, NAVWAR, NAVSEA, or other DoD technical organizations.
  • Familiarity with PNT systems, navigation technologies, or maritime system integration.
  • Experience with modern .NET frameworks, updated SQL Server versions, or cloud based development environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
