Master Scheduler
Job Type
Full-time
Description

The Master Scheduler at Radio Design Labs (RDL) is responsible for developing and maintaining a realistic, demand-driven master production schedule that supports RDL’s commitment to high-quality audio/video products, reliable lead times, and exceptional customer service. This role coordinates across Purchasing, Production, Engineering, and Sales to ensure that material availability, capacity, and customer demand remain aligned for RDL’s broad catalog including assembled PCBs, shop builds, and assembly departments.

Key Responsibilities

Master Planning & Scheduling

•Develop and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across RDL’s product families, considering forecasted demand, distributor replenishment patterns, custom orders, and low-volume products.

•Maintain a balanced plan across PCB assembly, testing, mechanical assembly, and final packaging.

•Review planning parameters (safety stock, reorder points, lot sizes, lead times) regularly to ensure they reflect actual conditions in RDL production.

•Translate the MPS into work orders and production sequences that align with component availability and department capacity.

•Translate customer demand into work orders and production sequences that align with customer shipping expectations.

Material & Capacity Coordination

•Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure that long-lead components (semiconductors, transformers, connectors, etc.) are ordered in alignment with the schedule and that risk components are mitigated.

•Work with Production Supervisors to validate labor capacity, machine throughput, and build/test standard cycle times.

•Identify bottlenecks—such as SMT line load, test bench availability, or assembly labor constraints—and recommend solutions.

Cross-Functional Communication

•Provide clear visibility of schedules, changes, and constraints to Customer Service, Engineering, Operations, and company leadership.

•Work with Engineering on ECRs, firmware updates, and product revisions, ensuring planning continuity and controlled transitions.

•Partner with Sales and Customer Service to communicate realistic lead times and potential constraints for high-mix orders.

Execution & Performance Tracking

•Monitor progress of work orders through PCB, assembly, test, shop, and packaging stages to ensure on-time completion.

•Maintain accurate and timely ERP/MRP data related to work orders, routings, planning parameters, and inventory transactions.

•Evaluate schedule adherence, expedite risks, and material shortages, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Continuous Improvement

•Support RDL’s ongoing efforts to strengthen planning accuracy, manage inventory, shorten lead times, and improve material flow.

•Analyze repeat issues (material shortages, schedule slips, ECR timing conflicts) and drive process improvements.

•Enhance forecasting and planning stability for core RDL product lines, coordinating seasonal distributor needs and project-based demand.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain,      Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–7 years of experience in      production planning, scheduling, or supply chain preferably      in electronics or high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of BOM      structures, PCB manufacturing flow, and electronics assembly processes.
  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems      for planning, work order management, and capacity analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel or other      planning tools.
  • ASCM/APICS certification (CPIM or      CSCP).
  • Familiarity with RDL’s product      categories, such as audio interfaces, mixers, power distribution modules,      networked audio, and installation accessories.
  • Experience coordinating planning      in environments with ECOs, electronic component supply volatility, or      multi-stage routing.
