The Stroum Jewish Community Center (SJCC) is seeking a part-time Fitness Center Attendant to support a clean, welcoming, and well-run Health & Fitness environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, staying active, and being part of a community-focused team.
As a Fitness Center Attendant, you will be a key point of contact for members and guests—answering questions, supporting daily operations, and ensuring fitness spaces and equipment are safe, clean, and ready for use.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure all opening tasks are completed before fitness and studio spaces open to members and guests
- Greet members and guests and provide friendly, helpful customer service
- Answer questions and assist members and guests as needed
- Monitor and track usage of all fitness spaces, including the Fitness Center, Group Exercise Studio, Racquetball Courts, gymnasium, boxing room, Peloton area, and MISC room
- Monitor fitness spaces during use and address concerns or issues as they arise
- Clean and maintain fitness equipment, floors, mirrors, and surrounding areas
- Assist the Maintenance team with housekeeping duties, including locker room cleanliness, towel service, and wet mopping of gym and racquetball courts
- Ensure all closing tasks are completed after fitness and studio spaces close
- Work evenings and weekends as needed to meet scheduling needs
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
Computer Skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office is preferred.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Physical Demands: To perform the job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, and stand. The employee may occasionally be required to stoop, climb, balance, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and push/pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Environmental Conditions: The work is typically performed in a Fitness Center environment with a moderate noise level. Working conditions may occasionally include work near moving parts (exercise equipment); wet, humid conditions (non-weather); and work in crowded areas. Occasional travel to the pool facility may be required where environmental conditions may include slippery surfaces.
