We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in programming multi-axis CNC machines, interpreting engineering drawings, and developing innovative work-holding solutions. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of machining processes, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments to ensure the production of high-quality components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, write, and troubleshoot CNC programs using CAM software such as Mastercam or GibbsCam, as well as manual programming techniques.
- Read and interpret engineering prints, including the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Use CAD models and blueprints to define component configurations and generate precise CNC programs.
- Select appropriate speeds, feeds, tooling grades, and cutting parameters for various materials, including exotic metals, steel, and aluminum.
- Integrate work with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Scheduling departments to facilitate smooth workflow and product quality.
- Develop work-holding fixtures and fixtures design to optimize machining processes.
- Calculate and determine reference points, tool paths, machining dimensions, radii, and curvatures.
- Use G-code to control CNC operations for a variety of machining processes such as roughing, finishing, profiling, drilling, tapping, threading, and pocketing.
- Analyze engineering instructions, drawings, and specifications to ensure manufacturing accuracy.
- Conduct simulations and trial runs to validate programs, adjusting as needed to improve efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Monitor machining operations, perform regular machine maintenance, and calibrate equipment to maintain precision.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Maintain detailed documentation of programs, modifications, and setups.
- Stay current with advancements in CNC technology and manufacturing best practices.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a CNC Programmer or similar role.
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages (G-code, M-code) and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam or Gibbs Cam), SolidWorks, etc.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of CNC machine operation and maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification in CNC programming or manufacturing technologies preferred.
- Proficiency in CAM software (Mastercam or GibbsCam) and SolidWorks.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and work-holding techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, including GD&T.
- Experience with G-code and M-code programming.
- Familiarity with probing systems and CNC machine operation and maintenance.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience programming 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machines, with a proven track record in aerospace manufacturing or similar high-precision industries.
- Certification in CNC Programming or Manufacturing Technologies.
- Experience with multiple CNC machine types (e.g., mill, lathe).
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM integration.
