Position Overview

Chartis is seeking a Network Senior Engineer / Team Lead to provide advanced network engineering expertise and technical leadership in support of a large, complex enterprise environment. This role is responsible for overseeing network operations, leading troubleshooting efforts, supporting infrastructure modernization initiatives, and coordinating with enterprise stakeholders to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance network services.


The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep networking knowledge, experience prioritizing operational demands, and the ability to guide teams through outage response, system improvements, and network rollouts in accordance with Government requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical resource and team lead for network engineering activities, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Prioritize and manage network outages, projects, and operational tasks to ensure continuity of services and timely resolution
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair network infrastructure issues across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments
  • Design, implement, and maintain operational network systems in alignment with Government standards, security requirements, and best practices
  • Apply deep knowledge of network principles, protocols, and architecture to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Collaborate closely with network and systems engineers, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve recurring, trending, or developmental network issues
  • Support cloud engineering initiatives, including migration strategies, connectivity, and integration with enterprise environments
  • Coordinate with enterprise network engineering teams across the broader DHS ecosystem, including data center environments
  • Review Infrastructure Change Control Board (ICCB) packages and provide technical recommendations to ensure coordinated and successful implementation
  • Support planning and execution of network rollouts, upgrades, and modernization efforts
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable security, configuration management, and change control policies
Requirements
  •  Minimum five (5) years of detailed technical experience in network engineering or a related field within the last seven (7) years
  • Proven experience leading or supporting enterprise-level network operations and infrastructure
  • Strong expertise in network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Experience coordinating outage response and balancing competing operational priorities
  • Experience working within formal change management and configuration control processes
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams and stakeholder groups
  • Experience supporting or integrating cloud-based network solutions
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and provide actionable recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  

Preferred Qualifications

  • · Experience supporting large federal or enterprise network environments
  • Familiarity with DHS enterprise networking concepts and data center operations
  • Experience with ICCB processes and coordinated network rollouts
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, or cloud networking certifications)
