College Living Experience
This role requires living in the same apartment community as CLE students while maintaining your own private apartment.
Help neurodiverse college students build independence, confidence, and real-world life skills.
Are you looking for a job where your work truly matters, every day is different, and you get to be part of a fun and supportive community?
College Living Experience (CLE) is seeking a Resident Advisor to join our Rockville team. In this role, you’ll mentor neurodiverse college students as they build the skills and confidence needed for independent adulthood while pursuing college and career goals. It is an essential role supporting students in their apartments and problem-solving on the unique challenges of adulting.
This is a role where meaningful work and everyday life blend together. One day you might be helping a student plan meal or organize their apartment. Another day, you might be out in the community attending an event, organizing a game night, or helping students explore new activities in the area.
Our students are a wonderfully diverse group of people — video game aficionados, artists, creative writers, craft enthusiasts, pizza and taco connoisseurs, karaoke fans, and students discovering new interests for the first time. A big part of the role is helping students connect with those interests and build a community around them. This role is ideal for someone early in their career or for someone looking to build experience in education, psychology, counseling, disability services, or student life. We are also open to flexible scheduling for graduate students who are looking to gain hands-on experience while pursuing advanced studies.
Why People Love Working at CLE
Working at CLE means being part of a collaborative team dedicated to helping students reach meaningful milestones in their lives.
Staff support students across four key areas of development:
- Every day is different. You’ll spend time mentoring students, helping them build practical life skills, and exploring the community together.
- You get to see real growth. Watching students gain confidence and independence is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
- You can be creative in how you engage students. Staff often turn their own hobbies and interests into activities that help students connect and grow.
- You get paid to do fun things in the community. From local events to game nights to karaoke, supporting students often means joining them in the activities they enjoy.
- You’re part of a supportive team. CLE teams value collaboration, flexibility, and recognizing the strengths each person brings to the work.
Resident Advisor/Life Skills Coach mentor students as they develop independence in daily living, social engagement, and community life. They help students develop routines, strengthen life skills, and gain confidence navigating everyday situations.
Much of the work takes place in real-world environments such as apartment communities, grocery stores, campus events, and local activities where students practice the skills needed for independent adulthood.
In this role, you will work directly with students in their apartment community and throughout the surrounding area, helping them practice and apply the skills needed for independent adulthood.
Resident Advisors collaborate closely with CLE staff across academic, career, social, and independent living domains to support student growth and success.
