The Senior Cloud Solutions DevOps Architect is a senior technical leader responsible for the architecture, automation, security, networking, and operational excellence of the organization’s AWS and Azure cloud platforms. This role serves as the primary technical bridge between Software Development and SaaS Operations, ensuring that applications are designed for scalability, security, performance, and reliability from day one through production operations.
This individual will lead the design of enterprise-scale cloud, networking, and DevOps platforms, leveraging Terraform, Git, and GitLab to deliver secure, resilient, and highly-automated infrastructure supporting mission-critical SaaS applications.
Essential Functions / Tasks / Duties / Responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture & Engineering
- Architect and implement secure, scalable cloud environments across AWS and Azure.
- Lead application and infrastructure modernization initiatives using cloud-native services.
- Design highly available, multi-region architectures aligned with SLA, RPO, and RTO requirements.
- Establish cloud architecture standards, reference architectures, and operational guardrails.
DevOps, CI/CD & Automation
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using Git and GitLab across multiple environments.
- Lead enterprise-scale Infrastructure as Code (IaC) programs using Terraform.
- Automate environment provisioning, configuration management, and release orchestration.
- Enable DevSecOps practices including automated testing, security scanning, and deployment approvals.
Advanced Networking & Connectivity
- Design and manage complex cloud networking architectures, including:
- VPC/VNET design and segmentation
- Hybrid connectivity (VPN, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute)
- Load balancing, WAFs, NAT, routing, and DNS
- Lead network security architecture including:
- Firewalls, security groups, NSGs, zero-trust network segmentationDDoS protection, traffic inspection, and secure ingress/egress
- Troubleshoot complex cross-cloud, cross-region, and hybrid connectivity issues.
Bridge Between Development & SaaS Operations
- Act as a technical liaison between Development, QA, Security, and SaaS Operations.
- Translate application requirements into secure, scalable, and operable production architectures.
- Partner with Development teams to improve:
- Build and deployment reliability
- Release velocity and rollback safety
- Observability and performance monitoring
- Partner with SaaS Operations to ensure:
- 24/7 operational stability
- Incident response readiness
- Capacity planning and cost optimization
- Drive “operability by design” across the full SDLC.
Security, Compliance & Reliability
- Embed security-by-design and zero-trust principles across cloud and DevOps platforms.
- Support compliance initiatives including SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, HITRUST, ISO 27001, and customer security audits.
- Lead identity, access management (IAM), secrets management, and encryption strategy.
- Implement and maintain:
- Centralized logging
- SIEM integration
- Performance and health monitoring
- Automated alerting and incident response workflows
Operational Excellence & Cost Governance
- Lead FinOps initiatives, including cloud cost optimization, forecasting, and chargeback.
- Develop operational runbooks, disaster recovery plans, and architecture documentation.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.
- Drive continuous improvement across availability, performance, security, and delivery metrics.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as senior technical authority for cloud, networking, and DevOps platforms.
- Mentor DevOps Engineers, Cloud Engineers, and SaaS Ops Reliability Engineers.
- Participate in architectural governance, roadmap planning, and technology evaluation.
- Influence platform strategy through data-driven recommendations.

Education / Professional Certifications or Licenses Required:
- A Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Similar Competency is preferred, but not required to be successful.
Experience Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in Infrastructure, Systems Engineering, Networking, or DevOps.
- 7+ years of hands-on cloud engineering and architecture experience in AWS and/or Azure.
- Extensive enterprise networking experience including:
- Routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation
- Hybrid cloud connectivity and secure remote access
- Load balancers, reverse proxies, and WAFs
- Expert-level experience with:
- AWS core services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, EKS, ELB, Route 53)
- Azure core services (VMs, VNETs, Azure AD, App Services, AKS, Load Balancer, Front Door)
- Terraform for large-scale IaC
- Git and GitLab CI/CD
- Strong experience with:
- Linux and Windows server platforms
- Containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a bridge between Development and SaaS Operations teams
- Strong background in production operations, reliability engineering, and incident management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Terraform Associate/Professional
- Network certifications (CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent experience)
- Experience in:
- Regulated SaaS environments (healthcare, financial services, government)
- SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, HITRUST
- Observability tools (Dynatrace, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, etc.)
- FinOps and consumption-based cost governance
- Experience with hybrid identity (AD, Azure AD, SSO, federation)
Work Environment / Physical demands/ Travel Requirements:
- Remote office environment; including extended periods of sitting, standing, working at a computer, using telephone.
- Lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Work outside of normal office hours on an as needed basis.
- Occasional travel to our headquarters office in Fort Washington, PA.
