Position Overview

Chartis is seeking a Systems Senior Engineer Team Lead to provide advanced systems engineering expertise and technical leadership in support of a complex enterprise environment. This role is responsible for leading system operations, overseeing infrastructure performance, supporting modernization initiatives, and coordinating across teams to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant server and systems operations in accordance with Government requirements.


The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep systems engineering knowledge, experience managing operational priorities, and the ability to guide teams through outage response, infrastructure improvements, and enterprise system deployments.


Responsibilities

  

  • Serve as a senior technical resource and team lead for systems engineering activities, providing leadership and mentorship to engineering staff
  • Prioritize and manage system outages, projects, and operational tasks to ensure system availability and performance
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems infrastructure issues across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments
  • Design, implement, and maintain operational server and systems infrastructure in alignment with Government standards, security requirements, and best practices
  • Apply strong knowledge of systems principles, protocols, and architecture to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Collaborate with systems, network, and security engineers, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve recurring, trending, or complex system issues
  • Support cloud engineering initiatives, including migration strategies, system integration, and optimization
  • Coordinate with data center engineering teams across multiple locations to ensure consistent and reliable system operations
  • Support planning and execution of system upgrades, rollouts, and infrastructure modernization efforts
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable security, configuration management, and change control policies 
Requirements
  •  Minimum five (5) years of detailed technical experience in systems engineering 
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise-level server and systems infrastructure
  • Strong expertise in systems design, implementation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
  • Experience prioritizing and managing operational workloads and outage response
  • Experience working within formal configuration management and change control processes
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across technical teams and stakeholder groups
  • Experience supporting or integrating cloud-based systems solutions
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large federal or enterprise IT environments
  • Familiarity with data center operations across geographically distributed locations
  • Experience supporting infrastructure modernization initiatives
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, VMware, cloud platform certifications)
