The American Auto Shield Senior Data Engineer is a full-time, on-site position at our Lakewood, CO office.


We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to play a critical role in our enterprise adoption of Microsoft Fabric. This is a high-impact, highly visible position focused on designing and delivering modern, scalable data platforms that power analytics, reporting, and strategic decision-making across the organization. The work performed in this role directly supports key business drivers and is expected to deliver material impact within the next two to three years. You will operate at the intersection of Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, and multiple Analytics Platforms, partnering closely with architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to transform complex data into trusted, actionable insights.

Salary

The Senior Data Engineer earns competitive compensation from $110,000-150,000.*


What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and evolve end-to-end data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and Spark
  • Serve as a key driver of measurable business impact, ensuring data warehousing solutions directly support enterprise capabilities and outcomes
  • Architect and maintain Lakehouse and Warehouse solutions leveraging Delta Lake for performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Implement and continuously improve Medallion architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold) within OneLake
  • Develop resilient, scalable ETL/ELT frameworks supporting batch, dynamic, and incremental data ingestion
  • Drive performance optimization through partitioning strategies, schema and file design, caching, and query tuning
  • Enable analytics and reporting through semantic models and Direct Lake integration
  • Establish data quality, validation, observability, and monitoring to ensure trusted and governed data
  • Partner with product and business teams to translate requirements into robust, extensible data models
  • Contribute to data governance standards, documentation, and platform best practices
  • Provide technical leadership within a team of highly experienced engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and collaborative solution sessions
Requirements

What You Need to Join Our Team

Required Experience, Skills & Abilities:

  • Senior-level experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or a related discipline, with a track record of delivering enterprise-scale solutions
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Azure data services or comparable cloud ecosystems, including:
    • Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake)
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Azure Synapse Analytics
    • Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, or similar. 
    • AWS or Snowflake-based data platforms
  • Strong experience with Spark (PySpark and/or Spark SQL)
  • Advanced SQL expertise (T-SQL and/or ANSI SQL)
  • Proven ability to design and operate large-scale, production-grade, high-performance data pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with Delta Lake and modern data lake architectures
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
