Clinical Intern - Residential Programs
Description

Under the supervision of the Program Managers in their assigned program(s), the Clinical Intern will 

provide case management services in addition to trauma-focused therapeutic interventions to pregnant 

and/or parenting residents in an effort to support and strengthen their capacity to engage in healthy 

practices and create stability with the support of a licensed clinician. Additionally, the Clinical Intern will 

operate as a member of a larger interdisciplinary treatment team in the provision of clinical and 

program services.

8. Actively participate in CGE's clinical research efforts by ensuring accurate and timely reporting for all assessments and evaluations.


CLINICAL/CASE MANAGEMENT DUTIES:

  1. Provide case management services to clients for services including but not limited to: educational and vocational pursuits, legal issues, recovery support, life skills (e.g. resume writing, budgeting, etc.), and accessing housing, social services and other community resources in conjunction with the clinical team.
  2. Complete case management documentation in a clear, concise, accurate and timely manner. Observe and/or co-facilitate individual, family and group sessions, assessments, treatment plans, and/or other clinical duties as appropriate and assigned by supervisor.
  3. Facilitate didactic, open process, and psychoeducation groups.
  4. With the support of a licensed clinician, conduct Early Relational Health relationship-based assessments of assigned residential parent/child dyads (ages 0-5) to lead to diagnostic impression, case conceptualization, individualized treatment plans, and recommendations for the development of early relational health interventions.
  5. Provide dyadic and group treatment interventions, as indicated, appropriate for parents and children with relational/attachment problems in residential programs.
  6. Provide family sessions as appropriate to client progress and indicated by treatment plan. 
  7. Ensure accurate and timely documentation relevant to child monitoring and feeding, according to program requirements. Communicate relevant information to necessary staff for follow-up interventions. 
  8. Provide timely documentation for all clinical assessments, individual, dyadic and group sessions, treatment goal development and progress, collateral communication, crisis intervention, and contribute to discharge summaries and communication to external stakeholders. 
  9. Assist residents with parenting in community settings as appropriate.
  10. Prepare residents for appropriate discharge upon completion of the program and make referrals for ongoing parental support as needed.
  11. Address immediate parenting concerns and highlight strengths as they arise.
  12. Assist with the collection and documentation of urine drug screens.
  13. Provide proper crisis management/intervention as needed and notify supervisor as soon as practical.
  14. Exercise independent judgment when observing and assessing a client’s current functioning.
  15. Respond to clients in an attuned and effective manner, employing CGE’s protocols and procedures as appropriate to presenting situation.
  16. Make appropriate judgments with respect to life threatening circumstances and take appropriate action.
  17. Participate in program evaluation and ongoing quality improvement efforts.
  18. Prepare and deliver oral and written reports to staff and appropriate professional agencies as indicated.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  1. Continually participate in building and maintaining positive working relationships through effective communication, performance improvement and teamwork efforts.
  2. Participate in CGE staff meetings and trainings as requested.
  3. Maintain records as required by organizational policies and regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  4. Work as a member of a team to establish and maintain a high level of care and respect for, and communication with clients.
  5. Work in a consistently professional manner at all times, which includes, but is not limited to, treating all residents, staff, guests, and volunteers with dignity and respect.
  6. Remain flexible and available for day and evening hours.
  7. Perform other duties as requested.

SUPERVISION

  1. Administrative and general supervision to be provided by residential program manager(s)
  2. Clinical supervision for Early Relational Health to be provided by the Director of Early Relational Health
  3. Clinical supervision for formal internship hours to be provided by CGE’s independently licensed clinical supervisor
Requirements
  1. Pursuing MA degree in human services, social work, psychology, or another related field.
  2. Licensure eligibility or LCADC/CADC preferred.
  3. Clean driving record with ability to comfortably drive and maintain various sized vehicles.
  4. Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking a plus.
  5. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with friendly and professional demeanor.
  6. Ability to be flexible to the daily changing needs within the community and to handle obstacles with compassion and resolve.
