This position would work in the The aMPersand, a vocational training space to offer a space for people with and without disabilities to learn and grow together. What We're Looking For:
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Café Coordinator to serve as the on-site lead for The aMPersand overseeing daily operations. This role ensures exceptional customer service, manages inventory and merchandising, and drives sales while fostering a supportive training environment for staff with and without disabilities. This multifaced role also involves training employees, community engagement, customer service, marketing, and implementing effective business management strategies to generate sales revenue and profit. The Café Coordinator is accountable for the success of the café and retail social enterprise, working closely with the Vice President of Advancement to align the operations with the mission and vision of Carey Services.
Ideal Experience, Background & Skills:
· Proven experience in a business retail, culinary, or disability services role, with a strong understanding of sales strategies. A degree related to business, hospitality or foodservice management is preferred
· Experience managing or leading operations in a cafe, coffee shop, or retail environment; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of relevant software applications.
· Adaptability and flexibility to changing business needs.
· Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team
As a Cafe Coordinator you'll spend your days:
· Oversee daily café and retail operations to ensure smooth workflow, regulatory compliance, quality standards, and alignment with the organization’s mission.
· Lead onsite staff by modeling best practices, providing ongoing training, and cultivating an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance team environment.
· Maintain exceptional product and service quality through hands-on oversight of food preparation, retail presentation, customer service, and inventory management.
· Support sales and financial goals by analyzing costs, monitoring budgets, shaping menu and product offerings, and contributing to targeted sales and marketing strategies.
· Serve as a community ambassador by promoting the mission, championing inclusivity, and supporting vocational skill development for individuals with disabilities.
· Participate in organizational initiatives while upholding strong safety, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance practices across all operations.

- Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods (up to 3 hours); lift and carry 30 pounds or more; wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hairnets, gloves, face masks, and gowns.
- Safety and Compliance: Ability to follow food safety practices, universal precautions, and agency safety standards.
