Job Summary
The Warehouse Dock Clerk is responsible for coordinating, documenting, and supporting the loading and unloading of freight at the warehouse dock. This role ensures accurate shipment processing, maintains records, communicates with drivers and warehouse staff, and supports efficient dock operations while following safety and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Check in and check out inbound and outbound freight at the check
- Verify shipment documentation such as bills of lading, packing slips, and manifests
- Communicate with Customer Service Team when loads are completed
- Record shipment data accurately in the warehouse management system (WMS)
- Coordinate dock assignments and communicate with drivers and warehouse personnel
- Maintain organized dock records and files for CSRM to receive weekly
- Support inventory control and shipping/receiving accuracy
- Follow safety regulations, dock procedures, and company policies
- Be a liaison between operations and customer service for load and service accuracy
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Overtime as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous warehouse, shipping/receiving, or dock experience preferred
- Basic computer skills and experience with warehouse systems a plus
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to [e.g., 25 lbs] occasionally
- Comfortable working around forklifts, pallet jacks, and dock equipment
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and warehouse conditions
Preferred Skills
- Experience with RF scanners or WMS software
- Knowledge of DOT or shipping regulations
