Essential Job Functions – Ground Labor

Ground Engineers (Ground Laborers) support daily rock crushing quarry operations in the Kingman area, specifically Chloride, AZ. This position involves physically demanding, hands-on work critical to production, safety, and site upkeep. Work is primarily outdoors and requires physical endurance, attention to detail, and strict compliance with MSHA and company safety standards.


Material Handling

  • Load and unload rock, sand, gravel, and other materials from trucks, conveyors, and stockpiles using hand tools 
  • Secure loads using chains, straps, and tie-down devices 
  • Move and organize materials using wheelbarrows, hand trucks, and similar equipment 
  • Remove debris and waste materials from work areas 

Equipment Operation Assistance

  • Assist equipment operators (loaders, excavators, conveyors) by spotting and guiding equipment 
  • Perform basic pre-operation checks under direction 
  • Clean and assist with routine equipment maintenance (washing, greasing) 
  • Learn basic equipment operation as opportunities arise 

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Maintain a clean and organized quarry site 
  • Clean around equipment to prevent material buildup 
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks under supervision 
  • Maintain organized storage and staging areas 

Safety Compliance

  • Follow all company and MSHA safety rules and procedures 
  • Wear required PPE at all times 
  • Identify and report hazards immediately 
  • Participate in safety meetings and training 

General Labor

  • Perform assigned labor tasks including shoveling, digging, lifting, and raking 
  • Operate hand and power tools with proper training 
  • Assist with maintenance and repair activities 
  • Perform cleanup and other duties as assigned 

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects repeatedly 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods 
  • Outdoor work in heat, cold, wind, dust, and noise common to quarry environments

Salary Description
$18 to $25 per hour
