We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Web Developer to join our team supporting a federal agency. This role is part of a digital services team that creates visually compelling, accessible, and engaging content across digital and multimedia platforms. The Web Developer will be responsible for managing web design and development projects that power both public-facing websites and internal employee portals. This role will support web operations by responding to publishing and editing requests, creating and maintaining content within Drupal, ServiceNow, and SharePoint environments, and providing high-quality customer support through a structured ticketing system. This role includes designing accurate, accessible, user-centered webpages aligned with the U.S. Web Design System, optimizing content for search, and advising agency staff on web best practices. Note: Candidates may be required to report to Northern Virginia offices.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supports the customer web team, which drafts and posts all external content on the public website and manages internal content on the customer employee portal.? 
  • Responds to publishing requests and creates/revises web pages, news and event items, official funding and guidance documents, and other content using the Drupal content management system (CMS), ServiceNow Employee Center, and Microsoft SharePoint. 
  • Creates clear, compelling web page layouts that conform to web design best practices, 21st Century Integrated Digital Experience Act (IDEA), U.S. Web Design System, WCAG 2.0/Section 508 requirements.? 
  • Formats, optimizes, and uploads PDFs, images, and other files for web publication.? 
  • Provides timely, high-quality customer support, handling requests and inquiries, resolving issues, and tracking all requests/inquiries within the service ticketing system (built in ServiceNow and Microsoft Lists). Monitors ticket dashboards to ensure tickets are prioritized, annotated, and completed. 
  • Advises customer on web design best practices, including consistent and clear layouts, 508 compliances, and the use of visuals to enhance engagement and understanding.? 
  • Participates in special projects and other related duties as assigned by customer.? 

Requirements and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a four-year college in computer science or other closely related discipline. 
  • Five years of professional experience in web development and web design services. 
  • At least three years working in a Drupal CMS environment and using components and Layout Builder to design web pages. 
  • Drupal project management experience in development, maintenance, operations, and project transitioning from predecessors. 
  • Familiarity with the U.S. Web Design System and how to develop and design web pages within its constraints.? 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. ? 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products to manipulate images for optimized display on the web.? 
  • Experience using ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems. 
  • Knowledge of current Section 508 accessibility requirements, including the ability to make sure all web page elements meet these requirements.? 
  • Working knowledge of multi-language content creation and management and FEDRamp cloud security.
  • Understanding of how to develop websites for search engine optimization.? 
  • Ability to gather requirements from stakeholders and work collaboratively within a team as well as independently on assigned projects.  
  • Ability to take creative directions from stakeholders.? 
  • Experience leading small teams to perform web development services. 
  • Experience working on web development for a federal agency or similar organization. 
  • Experience collaborating with other federal agencies, academic community, and industry on outreach and announcements. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills  
  • Ability to obtain a public trust clearance.

Work Schedule: 

  • 8-hour shift during normal business hours of 8:30 am – 5 pm EST 
  • Monday to Friday 
  • Place of performance: Customer site in Alexandria, VA
