Production Manager
Description

Summary:

Directs and coordinates activities of print & insert departments by performing the following duties:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.


Ensure the timely delivery of orders: Plans department operations including the establishment of priorities and sequences by machine and personnel prior to each shift. Confer with department supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.


Ensure quality services: Prevent and resolve operational delays by inspecting machines/equipment and monitoring maintenance schedules to ensure operational performance and optimum utilization and informing maintenance of needed repairs. Observe work-in-process and final product both in print, inserting and mailing/shipping to confirm order meets customer specifications. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of service to Plant Manager.


Successfully complete managerial duties: Compile, store, retrieve, and report production data to Plant Manager. Attend and participate in production meetings. Ensure all paperwork (work orders, time sheets) are complete and accurate.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises employees in both print, insert and warehouse departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Interprets specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND OR EXPEREINCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university with at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals and technical procedures. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS NEEDED:

Experience Xerox, Scitex and Pitney Bowes printers, inserters and other related printing equipment.

Salary Description
$80,000 - $90,000 - Salary range depending on exp.
