Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support our laser cutting, sheet metal fabrication Trumpf punch, and CNC press brake operations. This is an office-based technical position focused on programming, optimization, technical support, and manufacturing input for quoting and estimating.
This role works closely with shop-floor operators, engineering, and estimating to ensure parts are programmed correctly, run efficiently, and are quoted accurately with realistic feeds, speeds, tooling, and cycle times.
The ideal candidate will bring strong programming expertise, practical manufacturing knowledge, and the ability to troubleshoot production challenges in real time. This position plays a critical role in improving throughput, quality, cost accuracy, and machine utilization.

Key Responsibilities
Programming & Process Development
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for:
- Laser cutting systems
- CNC turret punch presses
- CNC press brakes
- Develop nesting strategies to maximize material utilization and minimize scrap.
- Select proper tooling, cutting parameters, bend sequences, and fixturing methods.
- Verify programs for accuracy, safety, and manufacturability before release to production.
- Maintain organized program libraries and revision control.

Quoting & Estimating Support
- Support the fabrication quoting process by providing:
- Accurate feeds and speeds
- Estimated cycle times
- Tooling recommendations
- Setup assumptions
- Manufacturability feedback
- Review customer prints and models to identify production risks, special tooling needs, or efficiency opportunities before jobs are quoted.
- Collaborate with estimating, and engineering to improve quote accuracy and profitability.
- Suggest design-for-manufacturing improvements when appropriate.

Production Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support to machine operators during setup and production runs.
- Troubleshoot issues related to part quality, tooling, programming errors, machine limitations, and material behavior.
- Identify opportunities for cycle time reduction and process improvements.

Collaboration & Documentation
- Work with engineering, quality, and production teams to interpret drawings, tolerances, and specifications.
- Ensure programs meet print requirements and customer quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing efforts.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience programming CNC machines (laser, punch, and press brakes required).
- Strong understanding of:
- Sheet metal fabrication processes
- GD&T and blueprint reading
- Tooling selection and bend allowances
- Nesting and material utilization
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (Auto Desk, TruTops Boost, Amada, Solid Works, SigmaNEST, Mastercam, or similar).
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, programming, and process-related issues.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with shop personnel and office staff.
- High attention to detail and organization.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting quoting, estimating, or costing in a fabrication environment.
- Understanding of laser parameters, punch tooling libraries, and press brake offline programming.
- Leadership or mentoring experience with operators or junior programmers.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure.
- Experience with Lincoln Robotic welders (System 30 and System 10)
- Spot Welding and Riveting process knowledge

- Primarily office-based with frequent interaction on the production floor.
- Manufacturing environment including noise, machinery, and material handling areas.
- Standard business hours with occasional overtime or production support as needed.
