JOB SUMMARY

The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, tracking, and reporting costs related to company operations, including manufacturing, procurement, and project activities. This role supports accurate financial reporting, assists with budgeting and forecasting, and ensures proper cost allocation across departments and projects.


The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting or bookkeeping - preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry - with a solid understanding of job costing, accounts payable, and invoicing. This position collaborates with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to maintain compliance with statutory requirements and all internal UBE standards and procedures.

Requirements

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices and resolve discrepancies with procurement or operations.
  • Verify invoices, enter them into the accounting system, and ensure proper cost.
  • Manage payments based on invoice due dates.
  • Reconcile bank statements and vendor accounts.
  • Maintain organized records of financial transactions, contracts, and vendor files.

COST ANALYSIS RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze manufacturing costs by tracking material, labor, and overhead expenses, and ensure accurate cost allocation to products and work orders.
  • Summarize cost trends and variances and prepare monthly cost reports for management.
  • Monitor inventory transactions, reconcile balances, review adjustments, and ensure accurate valuation.
  • Provide cost data and analysis to support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Assist with monthly financial reports and manufacturing cost analysis.
  • Perform other general administrative and accounting tasks as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 
  • 3-5 years of accounting or finance experience 
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft excel 
  • A valid state issued driver’s license
  • Basic Understanding of US GAAP, SOX, and J-SOX requirements

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Japanese language skills (helpful but not required)
  • Experience with SAP 
  • Manufacturing accounting experience (Chemical industry is a plus)
