Summer Camp: Program Supervisor
Description

The Summer Camp Program Supervisor oversees camp programming for archery, aquatics, arts, and science. She is responsible for supervising Activity Leaders, who implement daily programming. Due to close contact and overnight supervision of a Girl Scout minor girl population in this residential setting, the Summer Camp Program Supervisor must be female. 


Key Responsibilities:

· Ensure that staff facilitate programming following all proper procedures. 

· Review all lesson plans with the Summer Camp Manager to ensure safe and quality programming. 

· Plans and organizes camp reward recognitions. 

· Directly supervise and hold weekly meetings with Activity Leaders, lifeguards, and STEM activity staff. 

· Conduct mid-summer and end of summer skill evaluations for activity staff. 

· Coordinate the development of resource boxes, which provide rainy-day activities for when program areas are unable to operate due to weather or equipment failure. 

· Conduct daily and weekly inspections of programming areas and equipment for safety and cleanliness, making or reporting repairs as needed. 

· Maintain inventory of program equipment and supplies throughout the season and request equipment as needed. 

· Assist in the execution of the GSHPA crisis management plan for emergencies that may occur during camp at any time, day or night. 

· Ensure the camper swim test is being administered appropriately. 

· Submit an end of season report, evaluating current camp programming and providing suggestions for future programming. 

· Assist in covering ratio in units and fill in as a counselor as necessary. 

· Support the camper check-in and check-out process. 

· Plan and lead “all-camp” activities. This includes one “all-camp” game weekly, opening campfire, and closing campfire. 

· Assist in the planning and help lead the parent picnics each Friday.

· Follow all ACA and GSUSA guidelines in all activity areas. 

· Abide by GSHPA code of conduct, rules, and expectations. 

· Perform other duties as assigned. 


Requirements

  

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

· Minimum 21 years of age, 25+ preferred.

· High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree (or in process of obtaining) in Camp Administration, Education, Outdoor Education or related degree, or equivalent experience preferred.

· Previous experience working in a camp leadership setting required.

· Demonstrated ability to motivate girls to participate in activities and lead activities in a flexible, professional manner and in accordance with GSHPA strategies.

· Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. 

· Ability to develop and lead activities.

· Attend and complete pre-camp trainings.

· Experience working with children.

· Ability to live and work in the outdoors in extreme weather conditions.

· Ability to walk a mile over uneven terrain.

· Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards.

· Ability to adapt well to changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.

· Ability to work with diverse populations in a group setting.

· Strong verbal communication, organizational, and public speaking skills.

· Must be able to pass required background checks.

· Must present a current form of ID affirming female gender at time of hire.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

· Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
