A Typical Day at Kansas City School of Phlebotomy
As a PCT Instructor, you will guide and support students through hands-on clinical training and classroom instruction. You will foster a positive learning environment, promote professionalism, and prepare students with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in patient care roles.
- Instruct students in patient care skills and clinical procedures
- Teach students how to collect, monitor, and document vital signs, intake and output, and other patient data
- Train students to assist with patient hygiene, personal care, and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Guide students in assisting with medical procedures and diagnostic testing
- Instruct on technical skills including EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection
- Teach safe patient mobility, ambulation, and transfer techniques
- Emphasize infection control, safety standards, and clinical best practices
- Provide instruction on medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology
- Promote ethical behavior, professionalism, and HIPAA compliance
- Foster effective communication skills and teamwork within healthcare environments
Requirements
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant field experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Authorized to work in the US
Preferred but not required:
- Previous teaching experience
- Certificate in Patient Care Technician.
