TPD is seeking an experienced highway engineer who will be responsible for managing design projects for various county clients, NJDOT, DRPA, NJTA and DRJTBC out of TPD’s Freehold Office. Strong resume working directly for NJDOT, or with projects following similar criteria preferred to satisfy requirements for Team Leader on NJDOT proposals. Primary responsibilities will include project management, design and design management, personnel management, business development, budgeting, and proposal preparation.

We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate most if not all of the following attributes, qualifications, and skills:

  • Experience working with Microstation, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience or familiarity with project delivery processes for New Jersey counties, NJDOT, DRPA, NJTA and DRJTBC.
  • Familiarity with clearance processes (e.g. Environmental, Utility, Right-of-Way clearances).
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting requirements and procedures.
  • Familiarity with traffic engineering aspects, such as traffic studies, crash studies, traffic signal plans, signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic control plans.
  • General knowledge of highway construction methods, and ability to manage the preparation of pre-bid construction schedules and pre-bid construction cost estimates. Understanding of NJDOT items, quantities, and specifications.
  • Understanding of NJDOT Local Aid involvement in county projects.
  • Ability to assist with the preparation of proposals.
  • Ability to represent TPD in a professional manner at meetings with clients, stakeholders, or the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via e-mail and via phone.
  • Ability to manage others and facilitate teamwork.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and monitor design schedules and budgets.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 10+ years of combined project management and highway design, experience.
  • Valid Professional Engineers license in New Jersey (preferred) or the ability to obtain a New Jersey license within 6 months.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-Motivated with the ability to get things done.
