We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our Civil Design Group. Location options for this opportunity include Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN. SRF offers a hybrid work model, allowing our staff to work from the office full-time or work part-time in the office and part-time remotely. As a Water Resources Lead Engineer, you will assist with the development and management of a variety of transportation focused drainage projects for public sector clients such as cities, counties, and transportation departments. Our group’s services include hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, roadway drainage system layout and design, BMP design, stormwater permitting, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead drainage design tasks for preliminary and final design projects.
  • Develop project documents including reports, studies, construction contract documents, and permit applications.
  • Interact with clients, regulatory agencies, and the public as necessary for project completion.
  • Task management and/or project management.
  • Supervision and training of staff.
  • Collaborating with internal company groups and external clients.
  • Completion and review of design documentation.
  • Promote team growth by teaching and learning from a diverse group of practitioners.
  • Manage specific discipline tasks and serve as a point of contact for internal clients on multidisciplinary projects.
  • May review and sign off on plans, drawings, specifications, reports, and other documents.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Biosystems, or other related engineering degree.
  • 6-12 years of prior related drainage design experience. Demonstrated project management experience in one or more of the following: transportation related stormwater management planning and design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, hydraulic infrastructure analysis and design, water quality, and permitting.
  • Understanding of construction plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • PE license required; must hold a Minnesota PE or obtain MN licensure within three months of hire.
  • Ability to lead drainage tasks and manage projects.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proven technical writing ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
  • Previous experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling applications (e.g. SWMM, HydroCAD, HY-8, Microstation/ORD, and/or AutoCAD).

Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000


Compensation is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, job location, internal equity, market analysis, and specific qualifications relevant to the role.
