Description

The Assisted Living Facility Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Caregiver provides compassionate care and support to residents, promoting their independence, dignity, and overall well-being. This position requires a caring and patient individual who is dedicated to meeting the needs of residents and ensuring a safe, comfortable living environment.


Schedule: Part-Time, Nights, 4 Hour Shifts


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide medication reminders and assistance with medication administration as needed.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' conditions, such as vital signs, physical and cognitive functioning, and overall health status.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team, including nurses, therapists, and physicians, to develop and implement individualized care plans for residents.
  • Engage residents in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities, promoting their mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents by performing light housekeeping tasks, laundry, and ensuring proper maintenance of resident living spaces.
  • Prepare and serve meals, adhering to dietary restrictions and individual preferences.
  • Escort residents to appointments, activities, and social events within and outside the facility as needed.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, family members, and other staff, fostering a supportive and inclusive community.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Assisted Living Facility Supervisor.
Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Food Handler's required.
  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or home health aide (HHA) training program is a plus.
  • 1 year of experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities in a healthcare or assisted living setting is required.
  • Knowledge of basic caregiving principles, including infection control, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive relationships with residents, family members, and staff.
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
  • Physical ability to perform essential job functions, including lifting, transferring, and assisting residents with mobility.
  • Ability to maintain resident confidentiality and adhere to all applicable regulations and facility policies.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and transfer patients, with or without assistance, up to 50lbs.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, walking, and climbing stairs for extended periods.
  • Visual acuity and dexterity for performing tasks such as reading medical records, administering injections, and handling therapeutic tools.
  • Ability to respond swiftly and efficiently to emergency situations.
  • Capacity to work in various home environments which may include navigating stairs, tight spaces, or uneven surfaces.
  • Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager.
  • Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.
  • The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without "giving out" or fatiguing.
Salary Description
$16-$18 Per Hour
