Position Overview
As an HR Business Partner, you'll be responsible for a comprehensive range of HR functions, including hiring, retention, talent management, compensation, benefits, and legal compliance. You'll act as a trusted liaison between employees and management, promoting an open and positive culture consistent with Nelson Miller Group values. This role is crucial in ensuring policy awareness, effectively managing employee relations, and supporting the implementation of company-wide initiatives. You'll also play a key part in the creation and delivery of employee training, development, and engagement activities.
This position will be based out of our facility located in Wausau, Wisconsin.
Key Responsibilities
HR Leadership & Employee Relations
- Champion Nelson Miller Group's culture and values throughout the organization.
- Stay ahead of changes in state and federal employment laws, ensuring prompt dissemination to the HR team, management, and employees.
- Serve as a trusted liaison between employees and management, keeping leaders informed of employee concerns and issues.
- Mentor and counsel management on employee relations and performance-related matters, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
- Promptly address employee benefits questions and support open enrollment activities.
- Advise and counsel employees and managers on all Human Resources policies.
- Foster positive relationships and morale, contributing to a supportive company culture.
- Handle other duties as assigned to support HR operations and initiatives.
Talent & Organizational Development
- Oversee the Annual Review and Goal Setting process for assigned areas/facilities.
- Collaborate with managers to develop SMART goals that drive employee development and strengthen the organization.
- Drive and monitor organizational development activities, working with managers to identify departmental strengths and weaknesses, and providing guidance and suggestions.
- Partner with Senior HR Leadership to develop training programs and succession plans to enhance staff skills and promote internal growth.
- Conduct engaging training sessions on Human Resources, Leadership Development, and other management topics.
HR Strategy & Analytics
- Research and gather data to support non-routine HR projects, analyzing findings and making recommendations for policy, procedure, or administration changes.
- Participate in salary surveys and various HR projects, providing insightful reports and analyses.
- Track and analyze key HR metrics and the progress of HR initiatives.
- Actively improve and automate HR processes, suggesting enhancements, learning new HRIS modules (e.g., Paylocity), and training managers and employees.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Work with Senior HR Leadership to develop and execute a recruiting and retention strategy to meet staffing needs for assigned locations/areas.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to create effective recruiting and interviewing plans for open positions.
- Efficiently and effectively fill open positions with top talent.
- Regularly follow up with managers to assess the effectiveness of recruitment plans.
- Proactively build a pool of qualified candidates and network to find exceptional talent.
- Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting.
- Manage job postings across various platforms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a similar field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an exempt-level Human Resources position.
- At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in performance management, organizational development activities, training, and employee relations.
- Prior experience in a high-technology, manufacturing, and/or production environment is highly desirable.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), with proven presentation and training abilities.
- Exceptional planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams at all levels of the organization.
- Strong knowledge of Federal & State regulations and laws pertaining to Human Resources (Wage & Hour, LOAs, WC, Recruiting, etc.).
- Familiarity with Affirmative Action Plans and compliance activities.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain absolute confidentiality regarding management and personnel issues/information.
- Previous experience using HRIS Systems (e.g., Paylocity).
- Willingness and ability to occasionally travel to other sites/facilities as needed.
Licenses/Certifications
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
