Position Summary
The DevOps Engineer position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure that supports enterprise application development, testing, and production environments. This position plays a critical role in enabling efficient software delivery through automation, continuous integration and deployment, and infrastructure optimization. The DevOps Engineer collaborates closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and compliance. The performance of this position is key to RavenTek's performance on the contract, and therefore RavenTek's mission to support the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure and reliable infrastructure across development, QA, and production environments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve build, deployment, and release pipelines.
- Implement automated solutions for infrastructure, backups, security, and system monitoring.
- Apply DevOps best practices to enhance software development lifecycle and service delivery.
- Manage CI/CD and configuration tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Ansible, or Puppet.
- Maintain and support version control systems including Git and related tools.
- Support cloud, network, database, and data center operations.
- Implement security controls and compliance requirements, including DevSecOps practices.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using common scripting and programming languages.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
- Complete required timekeeping, reporting, training, and administrative tasks.
- Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.
- Submit Monthly Status Reports on a regular basis, as required.
- Monitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly.
- Complete required compliance training as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Travel up to 10% may be required.
Knowledge and Critical Skills
- Strong expertise in DevOps engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency with Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and configuration management.
- Knowledge of networking, databases, and system administration concepts.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies and orchestration platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and other cloud service providers.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and automated provisioning.
Certifications, Licenses
- Security+ required.
- SAFe certification preferred.
- AWS or other cloud platform certifications preferred.
Special Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret level clearance.
Work Environment
Employee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.

To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee must be able to lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically up to 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
