Position Overview

Allegiant Hospice is seeking a Hospice Physician to serve as an alternate to our Medical Director. This role supports hospice medical oversight, clinical collaboration, and regulatory compliance, while offering flexible scheduling and limited on-call responsibilities.

This is an ideal opportunity for a physician experienced in hospice, palliative care, geriatrics, or internal medicine who is looking for meaningful, flexible work without full-time administrative demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an alternate physician to the Hospice Medical Director as needed
     
  • Provide physician oversight for hospice patients in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
     
  • Review and certify hospice eligibility, recertifications, and plan of care
     
  • Participate in IDG meetings (as needed)
     
  • Offer clinical guidance to nursing and clinical staff
     
  • Ensure compliance with CMS hospice regulations and Wisconsin requirements
     
  • Be available for limited physician consultation and coverage when the Medical Director is unavailable
     

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Wisconsin medical license
     
  • Board certified or board eligible (Hospice & Palliative Medicine preferred, not required)
     
  • Experience in hospice, palliative care, geriatrics, internal medicine, or family medicine
     
  • Knowledge of CMS hospice regulations preferred
     
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
     
  • Comfortable with hybrid work (remote chart review with occasional in-person needs)
