Description
Purpose: The Summer Camp Gym Counselor is responsible for leading gym activities for children ages 6-13. The counselor will be responsible for planning and implementing activities that are both fun and developmentally appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and lead gym activities that are age-appropriate for the entire nine-week sessions
- An in-depth curriculum expectations will be covered during the interview
- Prepare and set up gym materials before each activity
- Lead, supervise and assist children during gym activities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times
- Encourage campers to try an activity during gym time
- Clean and maintain the gym closet
- Must possess exceptional collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with lead and support counselors
- Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
- Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp
- Participate in weekly staff meetings
- Will provide support on designated Thursday field trip days.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalent certification
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to work at least until early August 2026
- Experience working with children, particularly in gym activities
- Strong knowledge and skills in leading and implementing gym activities
- Good organizational skills
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Passion for working with children and encouraging creativity through active play
- Must be able to pass a background check

- This job may require standing, sitting, walking, and running for extended periods of time
- This job may require lifting or moving gym materials
