2026 Summer Camp Gym Counselor

Description

Purpose: The Summer Camp Gym Counselor is responsible for leading gym activities for children ages 6-13. The counselor will be responsible for planning and implementing activities that are both fun and developmentally appropriate.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and lead gym activities that are age-appropriate for the entire nine-week sessions
  • An in-depth curriculum expectations will be covered during the interview
  • Prepare and set up gym materials before each activity
  • Lead, supervise and assist children during gym activities
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times
  • Encourage campers to try an activity during gym time
  • Clean and maintain the gym closet
  • Must possess exceptional collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with lead and support counselors
  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
  • Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Will provide support on designated Thursday field trip days.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalent certification
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work at least until early August 2026
  • Experience working with children, particularly in gym activities
  • Strong knowledge and skills in leading and implementing gym activities
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Passion for working with children and encouraging creativity through active play
  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • This job may require standing, sitting, walking, and running for extended periods of time
  • This job may require lifting or moving gym materials
