The Controller at Lupoli Companies will oversee financial and accounting operations within a vertically integrated organization specializing in hospitality, food manufacturing, and real estate. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role involves ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, analysis, and compliance, while maintaining strong internal controls and overseeing a team of 4-5 accounting professionals. The position requires advanced expertise in accounting and finance, proficiency in ERP systems (R365), and leadership experience, with a preference for candidates with CPA certification and industry knowledge in food and beverage services and real estate.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical
- Timely execution of month-end closing checklist.
- Timely execution of the monthly financial and management reporting such as income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, production, and labor reporting.
- Make recommendations on cash distribution/contribution.
- Analysis of management reports and financial statements and presenting root-cause analysis of variances.
- Work with an outside tax firm in preparation of annual federal and state income tax returns and tie returns back to general ledgers.
- Prepare annual budgets and monthly rolling forecasts.
- Reviewing and improving (if necessary) accounting policies and processes.
- Oversee timely and accurate AP, AR, and other monthly and annual cut-off procedures.
- Oversee timely and accurate key record-to-report areas such as GL reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Oversight of timely and accurate inventory levels and costs on the financial statements.
- Oversight of timely and accurate provisions, accruals, revenue, and cost recognitions in the income statement and balance sheet.
- Oversight of corporate allocations captured on the financial statements.
- Maintain proper internal controls and segregation of duties.
- Oversight of timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Provide a view on liquidity position to the Director of Finance and ensure smooth working capital management.
- Support third-party tax preparers with federal, state, and local tax compliance.
Team Management
- Oversee and manage a team of 4-5 people as part of accounting team for the hospitality business.
- Allocate, measure, and report on KPIs to the team members.
Technology
- Manage accurate accounting for financial and management reporting through R365 ERP.
Requirements
Certifications & Skill Sets: Relevant Experience 8-10 years
Qualifications & Certifications
- BBA in Accounting required, CPA strongly recommended.
- Food & Beverage Service industry experience required.
- Real Estate industry experience preferred .
- Public auditing experience preferred.
