Job Summary: 

The Community Relations Specialist works closely with the Community Relations team to promote Cary Medical Center, its services, staff, and its positive impact on northern Maine. Primary responsibilities include creating engaging content for social media, advertising, and public relations videos, overseeing the Pink Aroostook Breast Cancer Support program and its fundraising efforts, assisting at Red Cross Blood Drives, and helping to plan and coordinate events hosted by or involving Cary Medical Center.


Essential Job Duties:

  

  • Support the Public Relations and Marketing Team’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with other PR staff in the development of content, engagement strategies, and scheduling across all social media platforms, advertising channels, and marketing campaigns.
  • Support community outreach and engagement efforts, including partnerships, events, campaigns, and collaborations that strengthen community relationships.
  • Engage and joins appropriate community organizations to support the work of the hospital and its staff.
  • Manage the Pink Aroostook Breast Cancer Support program.
  • Coordinate Pink Aroostook fund raising efforts and work with Chief Marketing Officer to manage budget for the program.
  • Remain current with latest Breast Cancer Research and State and National agendas.
  • Coordinate Breast Cancer Awareness month activity.
  • Assist with Cary’s support of Red Cross Blood Drives.
  • Help coordinate Cary’s Annual Health fair.
  • Collaborate with various community organizations and agencies to further Cary’s Mission and Vision.
  • Coordinate, design, and edit commercials, press releases, news articles, provider profiles, blogs, videos, podcasts and more.
  • Perform other work-related duties assigned including general administrative tasks and assist in overall support in the PR department.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

 

Requirements

  

Availability Requirements: 

  • Must be able to work during the week, weekends, or evenings as the need arises.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the hospital and various locations as needed.
  • Valid Maine Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.


  Education, Skills, Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in specific discipline preferred
  • Must have the ability to speak to groups and relate to all age groups.
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Must have adequate interpersonal, writing and telephone skills.
  •  Must have skills with AV equipment and ability to troubleshoot difficulties.
  • High degree of organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with community coalitions and teams.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Computer skills are needed for word processing, databases and spreadsheets. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Internet and Email required.
  • Experience working with grant preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a budget preferred
  • Ability to motivate employees to participate in wellness activities.
