Head Varsity Football Coach
Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Develop a strategic plan, along with the Athletic Director, that outlines how the coach is going to develop players year round, aid players in earning scholarships and create a winning program.
  • Collaborate with Activities Director and/or administration pertaining to the scheduling of contests, practices, bus trips, and purchasing of equipment.
  • Uphold and enforce all policies and procedures set by the Athletic Office and School Principals.
  • Require all players to participate in the Athletic Department’s fundraising efforts.
  • Be responsible for the care and maintenance of all equipment and uniforms issued to your players.
  • Complete required online concussion training.
  • Promptly notify the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer of any injuries sustained at games or practices and complete all required reports.
  • Submit completed roster a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to the first game.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all equipment, including the names of students issued particular uniforms–this will be turned in at the end of the season.
  • Evaluate your assistant coaches at the conclusion of your season and turn their evaluations into the Athletic Director—this will be used to make re-hiring decisions.
  • Collect all activity fees and turn all collected monies in to Ms. Jackson for proper accounting and receipting.
  • Make sure all players are given a copy of our Student Athletic Handbook and have all required forms signed and on file in the Athletic Office.
  • Enter game scores into the MSHSAA website. Also, summarize game stats and submit, in paragraph form, to Athletic Director as soon as possible after the game--these summaries will be posted on the school website and televisions.
  • Complete MSHSAA required Online Rules Review.
  • Comply with the University Academy grade check policy that is conducted every three (3) weeks.
  • Contact your building principal at least one (1) week in advance if you will be missing teaching time or a scheduled staff meeting because of a game or practice.
  • Complete officials’ ratings on the MSHSAA website.
  • Carry out all duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
