Description


We are seeking an experienced US Payroll Specialist to manage our semi-monthly payroll cycles via Rippling. This role supports both salaried and hourly employees across multiple U.S. states, requiring strong multi-state payroll expertise and a high level of accuracy. The specialist will handle day-to-day payroll operations while final review and approval remain with our onshore team.


Work Style


This role focuses on the daily execution of payroll activities while partnering closely with our onshore team for oversight and final approvals.


 Key Responsibilities

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple U.S. locations.
  • Manage off-cycle payroll runs, final pay calculations, and termination payouts.
  • Ensure accurate processing of garnishments (e.g., child support, tax levies) and other special earnings such as stipends and one-time payments.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including state-specific requirements (e.g., California meal break premiums).
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and audits using advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
Requirements


  • 3+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
  • Experience using Rippling or similar cloud-based HRIS/payroll platforms (training on Rippling can be provided for strong system users).
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll tax compliance and multi-state payroll regulations.
  • Experience processing payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Proficiency in handling: 
  • Off-cycle payrolls
  • Final pay and termination calculations
  • Garnishments
  • Stipends and special payments
  • State-specific payroll rules
  • Advanced Excel skills for reporting and reconciliation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.


(Nice to have)

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification.
  • Experience with equity compensation and related reporting.
  • Knowledge of 401(k) administration, deductions, employer contributions, and compliance reporting.
