The Principal Technical Program Manager plays a critical role in advancing our company’s strategic priorities by leading complex, cross-functional programs within a dedicated domain. This role is both strategic and execution focused, where the ideal candidate is able to blend strategic portfolio management discipline (a new muscle for the company) with deep program execution expertise to ensure that the right work is prioritized, resourced, and delivered for maximum business impact.

As a senior individual contributor, you will partner closely with business and functional leaders to shape, drive, and scale program delivery practices within your assigned area. You’ll be hands-on with our most critical initiatives while building the mechanisms that enable consistent, repeatable success across the organization.

The Principal Program Manager will partner closely with the C-level leader of the organization that they enable, as well as with the leadership team in that organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Strategic Programs: Drive execution of high-visibility, cross-functional initiatives that advance key business objectives in  the Technology and Product org.
  • Own the Portfolio: Establish and manage a portfolio view of initiatives in your area, ensuring alignment to company priorities and resource capacity.
  • Build Intake & Prioritization Models: Design and implement intake, prioritization, and governance mechanisms to bring structure and transparency to how work enters and progresses through the system.
  • Enable Resource Planning: Partner with business and functional leaders to assess capacity, balance workloads, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Standardize Delivery Practices: Embed consistent program management frameworks, tools, and rituals within your domain to drive clarity, accountability, and predictability.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Act as a connector between the PMO and your assigned department, ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Coach and Influence: Guide teams and subject matter experts in adopting program management best practices, freeing them to focus on their core business and functional responsibilities.
  • Measure and Communicate Impact: Track progress, manage risks, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders and leadership through structured reporting and storytelling.

Requirements:

  • 8–10+ years of program management experience, including ownership of large, complex, or multi-year initiatives.
  • Proven success establishing or improving portfolio management processes (intake, prioritization, capacity planning, governance).
  • Experience working in or alongside Technology functions within a healthcare or similarly complex, regulated environment.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Solid change management and communications skills to help drive change.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to distill complexity into clear actions and decisions.
  • Comfort operating in a hands-on role that balances strategic portfolio management with day-to-day delivery leadership.
