Description

Engineering, Technical Support & Troubleshooting (Primary Focus)

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for designing, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis of cryogenic, bulk gas, and on-site generation systems.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
  • Conduct site evaluations, audits, and system assessments to identify reliability, safety, and efficiency improvements.
  • Develop technical recommendations, scopes of work, and corrective action plans.
  • Provide engineering-level support to sales, operations, and service teams for complex issues.
  • Understand the characteristics and hazards of cryogenic and high-pressure gases in general, and have specific knowledge and understanding of the products, containers and piping systems which will be encountered in the performance of their job duties.

Engineering Support, Design & Procurement

  • Assist with system design, equipment sizing, and configuration.
  • Support equipment selection, specification, and standardization.
  • Work with vendors and OEMs to evaluate equipment and alternatives.
  • Provide technical review support for procurement activities.

Limited Field Service Support (Secondary Focus)

  •  Support commissioning, startups, and escalated service issues.
  • Provide technical oversight rather than routine installation labor.

Job Tracking, Documentation & CRM Use

  • All jobs, site visits, troubleshooting, and evaluations must be logged in Zoho CRM.
  • Maintain accurate job notes, findings, and status updates.

Technical Review & Purchasing Coordination

  • The Technical Systems Engineer provides technical leadership and due diligence for equipment selection, systems changes, and vendor proposals.
  • Technical recommendations are reviewed with executive leadership prior to procurement to ensure alignment with operational, financial, and strategic objectives.
  • Approved purchases are executed through the Purchasing Agent under established procurement processes. 
  • This role serves as a key technical advisor in purchasing decisions while maintaining clear separation between technical review and financial authorization.
  • Provides technical support for sales representatives at prospects and existing customers.
  • Identify and validate leads
  • Perform needs assessments for prospects/customers
  • Assist with proposal generation
  • Develop, design and communicate technical solutions and offerings
  •  Interface with prospects/customers for technical issues
Requirements
  • Technical or engineering background with strong troubleshooting experience.
  • Detailed understanding of National Fire Protection Association(NFPA) 99, NFPA 55, and CGA (Compressed Gas Association) requirements.
  • Hands on experience with cryogenic equipment, pressure piping, compressors, as well as proven ability to troubleshoot system problems.
  • Ability to read blueprints and design specifications, manufacturer drawings, architectural drawings related to bulk delivery sites associated with customer installations.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read P&IDs and technical documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of explaining information to customers and employees. Ability to set goals and manage time to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner and achievement of goals are accomplished and manage and execute multiple tasks or priorities as necessary Considerable independent judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations; demonstrating tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers; and handling proprietary information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 5+ years’ experience in related field.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 3-7 years supporting industrial systems.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, a positive attitude and perform as a team player.
  • Ability to commute between Buffalo and Rochester locations.

Salary Description
$85,000 - $105,000 annual salary
