TITLE: Systems & Security Engineer

BASIC FUNCTION:
Plays a leading role for the Information Technology department. Ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of Goodwill’s information systems by supporting core organizational functions with a primary emphasis on Azure, Office 365, system administration, cybersecurity, compliance, and user awareness training. This position is responsible for protecting systems and data by monitoring threats, responding to incidents, managing user access, and ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure – Contribute to the design, deployment, and maintenance of Goodwill’s technological infrastructure, ensuring systems are secure, compliant, and reliable.
Technologies include:
- Manage Azure, Data management policies leveraging Microsoft Purview and Defender
- Microsoft Hyper-V Server and Azure Virtualization
- Office 365 and Azure Administration
- Cloud Security and Compliance
- Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)
- Administer and optimize the deployment of M365 Copilot (enterprise licensed version), including tenant readiness, permissions, data access alignment, policy configuration, and user enablement.
- Lead analysis and proof of concept efforts for AI solutions, assessing technical feasibility, data governance, integration with existing systems, and ROI for internal business functions.
- Strategic security planning – Assist IT management with strategic planning and vision, ensuring alignment with security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Documentation and standards – Develop and maintain technology documentation, including security policies, incident response procedures, disaster recovery plans, and compliance records.
- Maintain a level of security awareness – Create and deliver technology and security awareness to strengthen safe computing practices.
- Risk and compliance projects – Lead or support projects related to risk assessments, penetration testing coordination, compliance audits, and other security-related initiatives.
- Additional Duties – Perform all other duties as assigned by management in support of maintaining a secure, compliant, and high-performing IT environment.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

- Troubleshooting issues and assisting other IT staff with knowledge learned.

QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A degree (equivalent experience or secondary education) from Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, or other recognized entities is preferred. 3 years of experience in IT is preferred

Physical: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, talk or hear, operate a computer, and is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required, including close visual acuity to perform activities such as operating office machines, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and determining accuracy and thoroughness of work assigned.
Emotional: Irregular work hours and short deadlines may create stress.
