ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

· Assist in the cross-functional implementation of Destination Cleveland’s B2C local marketing plan including coordinated advertising, media buying, PR/Communications, brand activations, online and offline content and social media; all should be handled in collaboration with the local stakeholder audience owners (hospitality/corporate partners, economic development organizations, etc.).

· Serve as the primary marketing liaison for the B2B audience managers to support and develop marketing materials/solutions/communications strategies for initiatives related to local marketing efforts, resident/community/employee activations, partnerships and general community affairs.

· Assist senior director of leisure, local & institutional marketing to develop and execute a fully integrated, resident-facing marketing strategy that represents the communities we serve while championing a sense of belonging throughout all local marketing work.

· Recruit, manage and assist in programming/marketing efforts for Destination Cleveland’s Local Advocate Group, connecting residents to experiences that encourage them to invite friends and family to Cleveland.

· Work across all departments to identify opportunities to partner with external organizations/causes that support Destination Cleveland’s actions to ensure equitable and inclusive growth of the travel and tourism industry.

· Work with the director of insights and analytics to understand and apply relevant data to develop an effective and differentiated marketing plan, including objectives, strategies, tactics and outcome metrics based on understanding of the market and its opportunities, target audiences and organizational goals/strategic plan.

· Work with the owners of local audience/networks to develop and foster relationships with travel and tourism industry experts, civic organizations, major attractions and hospitality partners across all sectors.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the chief marketing officer and senior director of leisure, local & institutional marketing. Goals and responsibilities are subject to change based on the current and future needs of Destination Cleveland.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Experience and Education (Preferred)

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business, marketing, communications or related field.

· Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in business or integrated consumer marketing; agency/integrated marketing experience preferred.

· Experience managing or working with marketing agencies, graphic and website designers, printers and related marketing/advertising vendors.

· Considers a sense of belonging an integral part of all facets of work.

· Ability and confidence to be an influential peer to manage competing priorities among various channels, teams and workstreams. Experience with research and business analytics is a plus.

· Familiarity with AI-assisted marketing tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Co-Pilot, Canva Magic Studio, Grammarly or analytics dashboards). Curiosity and comfort experimenting with new technologies, including generative AI platforms, to improve efficiency and creativity is required.

· Experience working closely with travel and tourism industry, community stakeholders and local government officials is a plus.


Technical Skills

· Proficient knowledge of computer systems and sales-related software applications, specifically Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Excel, Word and AI platforms (examples noted above).

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present in front of small and large groups and articulate the intent and value clearly and concisely.

· Ability to lead and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders including employers, non-profits, government, philanthropic entities and others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Cleveland-based hybrid position. All employees are required to be in office a minimum of three days per week. Employees are welcome to work in office more if desired.
