Job Summary
The UI/UX Designer is responsible for designing intuitive, accessible, and user-centered digital experiences that support EMS|MC’s workforce management products. This role partners closely with Product Managers, Engineering, and key stakeholders to deeply understand user needs, translate complex workflows into elegant design solutions, and continuously deliver high-quality outcomes. The UI/UX Designer plays a critical role in shaping product experiences that balance usability, business goals, and technical feasibility.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Design user-centered experiences for web-based workforce management products, including workflows, interactions, and visual interfaces.
- Partner with Product Managers to deeply understand problem statements, user pain points, and desired outcomes before proposing design solutions.
- Conduct and synthesize user research, usability testing, and feedback to inform design decisions.
- Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using industry-standard tools (e.g., Figma).
- Translate complex workforce management workflows into simple, intuitive user experiences.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering to ensure designs are technically feasible and implemented with fidelity.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback, data, and evolving product requirements.
- Contribute to and helps maintain design systems, style guides, and UX standards.
- Advocate for accessibility, usability, and inclusive design best practices.
- Document design rationale, decisions, and trade-offs with clarity and care.
- Participate actively in product discovery, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability for design outcomes, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Skills, & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a UI/UX Designer working on complex web or SaaS products.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design, problem-solving, and iterative thinking.
- Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, FigJam).
- Experience collaborating with Product Management and Engineering teams in an agile environment.
- Strong understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and visual design fundamentals.
- Ability to clearly articulate design decisions and incorporate feedback constructively.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality outcomes.
- Proficiency in English is necessary for job-related communication, including understanding policies, writing correspondence, and engaging with colleagues or clients.
Preferred Education, Skills, & Experience
- Experience designing products within healthcare, fintech, or workforce management domains.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
- Experience conducting or facilitating user research and usability testing.
- Experience contributing to or scaling a design system.
- Comfort working in fast-paced, evolving product environments.
- Strong curiosity and willingness to challenge assumptions and legacy approaches.
Working Environment
- The office environment is a controlled indoor setting with minimal exposure to adverse conditions.
- Noise levels in the office are typically moderate and consistent with a standard office setting.
- For employees approved to work in a hybrid or remote setting, a quiet, private workspace free from significant distractions is required to ensure productivity during work hours.
- A reliable internet connection is required for hybrid/remote work. EMS|MC will provide necessary equipment, including a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting: frequent and prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer.
- Communication: frequent and prolonged periods of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Fine motor skills: frequent use of hands for typing and operating a computer mouse.
- Movement: occasional walking and climbing of stairs; limited bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying of office-related items.
- Travel: must be able to travel occasionally to attend required company meetings.
Pay range: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 with final compensation based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and business needs.
