Description:
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Data Analytics Manager oversees most aspects of operational analytics, reporting governance, data infrastructure support, and system performance for the operational databases, systems, and broader corporate reporting environment. The position must combine strong technical fluency, business acumen, and people leadership to ensure accurate, actionable data, easily digestible reporting formats, robust reporting processes, and optimized systems. This position will collaborate with stakeholders and reporting teams across the organization to transform raw data into actionable insights that drive operating and strategic decisions.
Essential Job Functions
1. Provide Strategic Reporting to Leadership
A. Enterprise Reporting Ownership
- Serve as the primary point of contact and accountable owner for all recurring and ad hoc operational and carrier/client reporting deliverables across the company.
- Ensure data used for strategic decision-making is accurate, validated, timely, presented in a readable format and actionable.
- Establish reporting standards, governance controls, and validation workflows that ensure consistency and reliability.
B. Data Quality and Process Governance
- Develop and enforce stringent standards for reporting requirements, documentation, development, change control, and testing.
- Oversee data integrity reviews, cross-system reconciliation, and quality-monitoring procedures.
- Maintain transparency and visibility into risks, defects, and reporting issues.
2. Data Infrastructure & Technical Systems Management
A. Database Performance
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for operational databases, reporting datamarts, and related interfaces.
- Contribute to the design, documentation, and optimization of database structures, Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, job scheduling, and integrity checks.
- Evaluate system bottlenecks, data workflows, and job performance, recommending improvements to hardware, software, and storage strategies.
B. Partnership with IT and Corporate Technology
- Act as the primary departmental liaison with IT, Data Management, and corporate technology teams.
- Collaborate on maintaining data sources, enhancing reliability, and aligning system changes with operational needs.
- Lead requests for system enhancements, data structure improvements, and new technical capabilities.
C. Technical Controls & Operational Reliability
- Ensure daily jobs, and data integrity controls are executed successfully.
- Provide structured escalation, issue tracking, and immediate visibility to management when system problems arise.
- Develop methodologies for ongoing system performance assessment and problem identification.
3. Analytics, Insights, and Continuous Improvement
A. Advanced Operational Analysis
- Guide the collection, synthesis, and interpretation of operational data to identify trends, productivity opportunities, and customer experience issues.
- Oversee analysis related to first pass yield (FPY), performance and productivity metrics, engagement insights, and workflow optimization.
- Ensure analysts’ outputs translate into meaningful, actionable business recommendations.
B. Continuous Improvement Leadership
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend process improvement opportunities across operational workflows.
- Partner with business leaders to build and implement measurable improvements in productivity, cost, or customer experience.
4. Project, Portfolio & Team Management
A. Project Delivery Oversight
- Direct and oversee project execution across the analytics team, ensuring deadlines, requirements, and deliverables are met.
- Establish clear project ownership, timelines, and prioritization processes for all analyst work.
- Ensure proper documentation (requirements, test cases, process flows) and adherence to internal project management standards.
B. Coordination with Cross-Functional Stakeholders
- Facilitate project meetings, reconcile technology and business needs, and negotiate timelines.
- Guide business users to align processes to new or enhanced system functionality.
- Oversee user acceptance testing, change management activities, and post–go-live warranty support
C. Team Leadership & Development
- Manage Data Analytics associates, including workload assignment, skills development, performance management, and coaching.
- Maintain visibility into all open tickets, projects, and support requests, ensuring appropriate prioritization and deadlines.
- Identify structural, systems, and developmental needs of the department, recommending solutions to support long-term scalability.
D. Capability Building
- Establish standards for documentation, coding, testing, and system support that build a sustainable team knowledge base.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and proactive problem solving.
- Strong understanding of data structure principles, data governance frameworks, and metadata management
- Expertise in database concepts, data warehousing, and modern information technologies including cloud data platforms
- Advanced SQL (writing complex queries, joins, query tunning)
- Strong working knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and SDLC principles
- Knowledge of health and life insurance operations, policy administration systems, and regulatory reporting is beneficial.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and synthesize complex data from multiple systems, including identification of anomalies and data quality issues
- Ability to structure and present analytical findings in a clear, concise, actionable format for management and executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to design, document, and maintain efficient data, data validation and reporting processes
- Strong competency in workflow design, process mapping, process improvement, and testing within a full project lifecycle.
- In-depth capability with modern database and information technologies, including relational databases, cloud storage, and API integrations.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Looker, etc.)
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high data quality standards.
- Ability to coordinate and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders outside of direct reporting lines.
- Strong negotiation skills, particularly in balancing business priorities, technical constraints, and stakeholder expectations.
- Excellent time management skills; ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver high-quality results under deadlines.

5% domestic travel.
