Position Summary
The Director of Supply Chain at BK Technologies provides strategic and operational leadership across procurement, material planning, and warehousing/stockrooms. This role owns the end-to-end supply chain strategy, shaping supplier partnerships, negotiating long-term agreements, and ensuring continuity of supply for high-reliability, mission-critical communication systems. The director has full responsibility for managing the company’s primary contract manufacturing supplier, including performance oversight, commercial governance, and alignment to BKT’s quality, delivery, and cost objectives. This leader drives disciplined process control, total cost competitiveness, and supplier capability development while maintaining rigorous compliance standards. The role is accountable for building a resilient, transparent, and data-driven supply chain that enables engineering, supports manufacturing operations, and meets demanding customer program requirements. The ability to build and maintain positive relationships and thrive in a cross-functional team environment is critical to the success of this position.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead the end-to-end supply chain function, including procurement, material planning, and warehousing.
• Drive disciplined process control across the supply chain, including change-control, configuration management, and supplier-notification protocols.
• Negotiate supplier agreements, long-term contracts, and commercial terms that ensure continuity of supply and total cost competitiveness.
• Drive continuous improvement, cost-reduction initiatives, and supplier capability development without compromising reliability.
• Own the strategic and operational management of BK’s primary contract manufacturing supplier, including performance oversight, commercial governance, and alignment to quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Partner with Engineering on NPI, DFM, and early supplier engagement to ensure manufacturability and supply readiness.
• Partner with Engineering and Quality on supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing performance management using structured scorecards, audits, and capability assessments.
• Oversee material planning and inventory strategies that balance cash, lead-time risk, and customer service levels. Lead Production & Planning Manager to optimize business results.
• Ensure full traceability, serialization, and compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities, continued
• Collaborate with Operations to resolve supply constraints, support production schedules, and maintain on-time delivery performance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team with clear KPIs and accountability.
• Represent the supply chain function in customer engagements, program reviews, and executive leadership discussions.
• Conceptualize, develop, and implement strategic initiatives to drive 3-5 year growth plan.
Knowledge & Skills:
• Strong Excel, Access, MS Word, Power Point, ERP/MRP skills required: Epicor preferred
• Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong analytical skills. Detail-oriented, accurate and organized
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while multi-tasking in a dynamic environment
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Outstanding negotiation skills and ERP expertise. ISO 9001 background a must
• Strong background in supporting low-med volume, system assembly manufacturing
• Must be a hands-on manager with customer interface experience.
• US Person as defined in 22 CRF Part 120.15 with ability to travel domestically/internationally up to 15%.
Qualifications: Education and Experience
• MBA, or Bachelor’s degree in Business/Supply Chain or related field and 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably EMS; Master’s degree a plus.
• APICS CPIM and/or CSCP certification desirable.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a Supply Chain management role desirable.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
• Work typically takes place in a normal office environment requiring: sitting, walking, lifting, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and seeing
• Operate a PC and other office equipment
• Travel between floors and office buildings may be required
• Environmental conditions: noise, vibration, oils, solvents, chemicals
