We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our team of paralegals to support the Immigration Attorneys of HunterMaclean.
Our firm is technological centered. Employees are required to attend training courses with our in-house trainer. We are actively looking for employees who will proactively use the technology and other firm resources available to problem solve and continue to improve their work.
Duties:
· Assist during all phases of the immigration process, including preparation, submission, and tracking of petitions, applications, and supporting documents.
· Draft, assemble, and file immigration petitions and applications with USCIS, DOL, DOS, and other agencies as applicable.
· Prepare detailed evidence packets, client questionnaires, and exhibit lists to support filings.
· Maintain ongoing communication with clients to request documents, obtain signatures, and provide case updates.
· Conduct factual and document research related to immigration history, country conditions, and client records.
· Track deadlines for receipt notices, biometrics appointments, RFEs, PERM recruitment steps, priority dates, and other immigration milestones.
· Update and monitor case management systems, ensuring all information is accurate and current.
· Schedule client meetings, consultations, and case-related events as directed by attorneys.
· Edit and proofread all drafted materials to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
· Assist attorneys with drafting forms using immigration software (e.g., INSZoom, LawLogix, Docketwise, or similar).
· Accurately and promptly record billable time in accordance with firm standards.
· Perform administrative duties as assigned and accept reassignment of tasks as needed to support firm operations.
In-person Position
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.
· Minimum 3 years immigration law experience.
· Must be able to take direction and work independently.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment by completing multiple time-sensitive tasks on a daily basis.
· Excellent word processing and proof-reading skills.
· Excellent administrative skills.
· Extremely professional, well organized, detail oriented, and must have the ability to multitask in a high activity environment.
· Be able to actively prioritize and re-prioritize assignments and operate well under pressure.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Knowledge of State, Federal, and Appellate Rules of Procedure.
· Advanced technology skills, including paperless document and case management (i.e., bates stamping, redaction, and compiling of multiple PDFs).
· Proactive approach to resolve issues before they become problems.
· Previous use of firm’s current document and billing management systems is a plus.
