Senior Estimator
Description

HGC is seeking a Senior Estimator who thrives in preconstruction and knows how to turn complex site development plans into clear, competitive pricing. This role goes beyond numbers—you’ll help shape project strategy, identify early risks, and influence how work is built before it ever hits the field. You’ll partner closely with operations, leadership, and clients to support smart decisions and winning bids.


What Our Team Needs from You:

  • Own the Bid - Lead the estimating process for site development projects from initial review through final bid.
  • Relationship & Communication – Manage workload and communication so all clients, teammates, subs and vendors receive accurate information throughout the pre-construction and construction process while developing and maintaining strong client, subcontractor, and supplier relationships.
  • Detailed Estimates – Produce detailed estimates for:

       Schedules

       Earthwork, Grading and Excavation (classified and unclassified)

       Erosion Control

       Underground Utilities (water, sewer, storm drainage)

       Fine Grading

       Paving, Concrete and site improvements

  • Critical Thinker – Ability to assess site exposures/construction risks and process and coordinate test digs. Analyze project data, costs, and identify potential construction issues and reflect these in an estimate.
  • Value Engineer – Assist Project team in developing options and alternate pricing above and beyond the project plans when needed.
  • Project Leader – Analyze plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to identify scope, risks and opportunities using HGC’s Project Team Process. Able to conduct meetings, and mentor and coach estimators.

  • HCSS Heavy Bid – Estimating Software
  • Agtek Programs – Gradeworks – Earthwork, Site & Utility Take Off Software
  • Microsoft Project and/or Power Project – Scheduling Software
  • Bluebeam and/or Adobe – Plan reading and creation of exhibits to relay important information
  • Microsoft Suite

HGC operates in a 65-mile radius from Charlotte, North Carolina. By applying for this position, you acknowledge our operation radius and understand your commute could reach up to one (1) hour. Teammates are asked to move job sites as project needs change and occasionally report to the HGC Academy for training.
