**This position supports multiple locations and includes regular travel between our Boone, Jefferson, and Storm Lake areas**


This role operates in our Maintenance Department. If you’re passionate about assisting persons with disabilities in our office setting and their home setting, we want you to join our team. As an integral part of our team, Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing a variety of general and routine maintenance and servicing operations throughout the facility and grounds according to applicable regulations and codes.

  • Report any mechanical, electrical, or plumbing failures, equipment problems, hazardous situations or other problems or observations to supervisor. 
  • Perform routine standard servicing and repair operations: 

o Maintain building, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds in proper condition, as directed. 

o Perform periodic maintenance on all Imagine owned vehicles including small engine maintenance & repair. 

o Perform work such as: replacing fuses and light bulbs, clearing drains, repairing faucets, toilets, chairs, tables, etc., as well as various appliance, equipment, and vehicle repairs. 

o Carry out preventative maintenance programs under supervision as directed, such as (air conditioners, heaters, exhaust systems), indoor plumbing, electrical wiring, etc. 

o Ensure all alarm systems, sprinkler systems, Wander Guards, etc. remain in working order. 

o Ensure monthly/annual inspections are completed and documented and documented, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, GFCI outlets, furnace filters, ladder inspections, etc. 

o Perform ground care, snow removal, and salting. 

  • Review maintenance schedule daily to receive assignments. 

o Review work orders, priority status and designated time schedules. 

o Consult with supervisor concerning assignments and keep supervisor informed of activities, needs and problems. 

  • May paint and perform carpentry work. 
  • Complete/maintain required logs, records and information related to completion of work assignments. 

o Apply cost effective measures in the utilization of materials and time. 

  • Operate a variety of equipment and ensure safety measures are followed: 

o Store and maintain equipment in proper working order. 

o Maintain work areas in an orderly, clean, and safe manner. 

o Ensure proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies. This includes compliance with OSHA standards and use of personal protective equipment. 

  • Perform on-call duties as needed. 
  • Perform lock-smithing duties to include repair, replace various types of locks, and duplicate keys when needed. Replace lost keys and perform vehicle entry as requested by the agency.

  • May require lifting at times, up to 50 pounds. Lifting more than 50 pounds requires the use of a two-person lift, mechanical lift, or assistive equipment. 
  • May require prolonged sitting and working at a computer for up to eight hours. 
  • May require frequent bending, stooping, and stretching. 
  • May require prolonged standing for up to eight hours. 
  • Must wear hearing and eye protection in required areas. 
  • Must have ability to ascend and descend steps/stairs safely, with or without assistance. 
  • Must have ability to maintain balance and stability while navigating stairs. 
  • Must have ability to see objects/persons at a distance. 
  • Must have ability to see close work such as typed or handwritten material. 
  • Must have ability to hear conversations in a quiet and a noisy environment. 
  • Must have ability to determine where a sound is coming from. 
  • Must have ability to hear differences among bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc. 
  • Must have ability to communicate through speech. 
  • Must have ability to drive and transport for service provision as needed. 
  • Must remain awake during working hours, if applicable.
