General Summary:
The Traveling Medical Exam Specialist assists physicians in delivering thorough, high-quality medical evaluations at various clinic locations. This role is ideal for individuals with prior hands-on medical experience, including former medics, medical assistants, and nurses. The specialist will accompany physicians to exam sites, assist during evaluations, scribe the medical exam for physicians, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with required standards.
Essential Functions:
- Travel with exam providers to various clinic locations throughout Texas (approximately 25-35% of weekly schedule).
- Assist physicians during medical evaluations, ensuring exams run efficiently and professionally.
- Scribe the medical examination in real time, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with required standards.
- Ensure physicians provide answers to all required exam questions.
- Obtain and verify all supplemental documentation, including photocopies of identification as requested.
- Scan all case documents into the designated SharePoint folders for APP assignment and report completion.
- Review claimant medical records, physician notes, and case summaries to support development of objective medical opinions.
- Receive feedback from physicians and promptly incorporate necessary edits or additions.
- Communicate with internal teams and external partners to address unusual or urgent situations.
- Stay informed on jurisdiction-specific medical procedures and regulatory standards (with Medical Director support).
- Maintain professionalism, complete required training, and adhere to all company policies.
- Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned.
Requirements
Required Experience:
- Previous medical experience as a medic, medical assistant, nurse, or similar clinical role.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Solid understanding of medical terminology.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with Texas Workers’ Compensation processes.
- Experience in orthopedic or musculoskeletal medicine.
Education & Credentials:
- Relevant medical background such as EMT/Medic certification, MA certification, LVN/LPN, RN, or equivalent experience.
- Willingness to obtain Texas Impairment Rating Certification (if applicable).

Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office setting and at off-site exam locations. The role involves both sedentary tasks and active support during exams.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and use hands.
- May occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
