What You’ll Do

  • Oversee all daily operations of the meat department, including cutting, trimming, and preparing meats for sale
  • Ensure product quality, freshness, and food safety compliance
  • Manage inventory levels, product ordering, stock rotation, and waste reduction
  • Lead, supervise, train, and develop meat department team members
  • Maintain attractive, organized, and fully stocked meat displays
  • Monitor department sales, analyze trends, and implement strategies to improve profitability
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with meat selections and recommendations
  • Collaborate with store leadership on pricing, promotions, and merchandising initiatives
  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper sanitation and safety standards
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company policies


What We’re Looking For

  • Previous meat department, butcher shop, grocery, or food service management experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of meat cutting techniques, product handling, and food safety regulations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
  • Experience with inventory management, ordering, vendor coordination, and waste control
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities
  • Basic computer and inventory system knowledge preferred
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Food Handler Permit required (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
  • Flexible full-time availability (days, evenings, weekends, holidays)


Work Environment

  • Fast-paced grocery store meat department
  • Exposure to refrigerated coolers, freezers, and sharp cutting equipment
  • Standing for extended periods; lifting up to 50 lbs
