The Role You’ll Play
As a Crisis Mental Health Technician II, you will play a vital role in providing 24/7 care at our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) in Manhattan, KS. You will support individuals experiencing acute mental health crises by ensuring safety, offering de-escalation support, and helping clients engage in stabilization services. You’ll also provide crisis line support, assist with admissions, and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely, compassionate care.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for clients in crisis
- Conduct routine client checks and assist with daily living activities (meals, hygiene, recreational support)
- Support clinical staff with crisis interventions, de-escalation, and safety planning
- Answer crisis line calls with professionalism, empathy, and strong listening skills
- Assist with crisis admissions and initial stabilization efforts
- Participate in shift change reports, staff meetings, and team huddles
- Accurately complete documentation, safety logs, and incident reports
- Support the Mobile Crisis Team during community-based interventions when needed
- Work collaboratively across departments and with community partners

Qualifications:
Required:
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience in mental health or crisis services
- Strong communication and observation skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
- Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry
- Valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance (per Pawnee policy)
- Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and MANDT (or willingness to obtain)
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening
Preferred:
- Knowledge of mental health, substance use, and housing systems of care
- Experience in an inpatient, residential, or crisis setting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
