Description

The Vaad Lead, J Café ensures that The J Café, including the Café kitchen and all members of J Café staff, are meeting the standards for Kashrut. The J Café Vaad Lead also works as a compliment to the Shift Lead in the J Café. This includes ensuring that our poolside snack bar operates in an efficient, safe and customer-focused manner. The Vaad Lead has supervisory responsibilities in terms of training and coaching employees on kosher principals and processes along with front-line responsibilities such as taking orders, preparing food, stocking, cleaning etc.


Responsibilities

  • Train and supervise staff on food preparation and procedures to ensure Kashrut is maintained
  • Through hands-on work and through supervision of others, ensure J café maintains adequate stock, operates on approved procedures, and provides quality Kosher products to customers
  • Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the J Café
  • Learn, train and monitor procedures related to food safety and employee safety
  • Know and uphold rules and regulations for Fitness, Sports and Aquatics Departments
  • Help respond to member concerns and in a timely and appropriate manner
Requirements
  • Knowledge of the laws of Kashrut
  • Able to train employees on food preparation and processes that ensure Kashrut is maintained
  • Food Service experience desired but not required
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrates J Values
  • Customer-service oriented 
  • Must be Jewish and observant of halacha and fully Kosher observant.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Requires constant standing and walking during shifts, typically up to 4 hours
  • Some bending and reaching to access supplies or when cleaning, sweeping, etc.
