Description

Position Overview: HVAC Service Technician (Level 3-4)

The Technician will be responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment. This position works on a variety of systems including rooftop units, chillers, VRF systems, and cooling towers. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, completing repairs, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.


Technicians are expected to communicate professionally with customers, complete service documentation, follow safety procedures, and work independently in the field while supporting team goals.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems from rooftop units to large equipment up to 400 tons. 

· Work on a variety of systems including chillers, VRF systems, water-cooled equipment, hydronic systems, cooling towers, and VAVs, economizers. 

· Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, airflow, and control issues. 

· Replace and repair components such as compressors, motors, pumps, bearings, blower shafts, TXVs, evaporator coils, and condenser coils. 

· Perform preventive maintenance and emergency service calls to keep systems running safely and efficiently. 

· Read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics for troubleshooting and repairs. 

· Inspect airflow and duct systems and recommend improvements when needed. 

· Communicate clearly with customers about repairs, system issues, and recommended solutions. 

· Follow all company safety procedures and industry standards. 

· Support and mentor junior technicians in the field.


Performance Expectations:

  • Maintain an efficiency rate of 85%+ for all service calls and tasks.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Complete tasks on time and in adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by effectively communicating technical issues and solutions.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience. 
  • Experience working on large commercial systems including RTUs, chillers, VRF systems, and cooling towers.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, and control systems. 
  • Ability to diagnose and repair commercial HVAC equipment up to 400 tons. 
  • Able to read wiring diagrams and HVAC schematics. 
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and service repairs. 
  • Able to work independently and communicate professionally with customers. 
  • Leadership or mentoring experience is a plus.

Education and Certifications:

  • Required:
    • EPA Universal Certification
    • OSHA 10
  • Preferred/Advanced:
    • First Aid/CPR 
    • NATE Certification
    • OEM and VRF Training
    • BAS and PLC Training
