Description
The Residential Scheduling Coordinator (RSC) will coordinate schedules of DSP staff to ensure efficient and effective operation of the assigned group homes. The RSC is responsible for managing and maintaining the staffing schedules of direct support professionals across multiple group homes. The primary goal is to ensure adequate, qualified staff coverage for all shifts to meet client needs and maintain compliance with regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, maintain, and update weekly or daily staff schedules using scheduling software, ensuring 24/7 coverage for residential group homes.
- Schedule staffing for individuals medical appointments.
- Respond promptly to call-outs during business hours, manage unexpected staffing shortages, and find replacement staff efficiently. In some cases, the scheduler might need to cover a shift personally if no replacement can be found.
- Serve as the main point of contact for staff regarding schedule inquiries and communicate schedule changes to team members.
- Maintains master distribution of schedules for the assigned group homes; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.
- Approve time-off requests and handle attendance-based issues in collaboration with Directors, OMs and QPs.
- Review, approve, and monitor time sheets for DSPs.
- Utilize scheduling software to match staffing levels with demand. Implement staggered start times or rotating shifts to avoid excessive, concentrated hours for specific employees.
- Establish a mandatory pre-approval policy for all overtime, not scheduled.
- Enter and verify attendance data, run reports to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with staff interviews.
- Create and maintain a sublist of available staff for on-call.
- Ensure that staffing levels adhere to state regulations, company policies, and specific client care plans. This also involves maintaining accurate electronic records.
- Work closely with the director, operations managers, qualified professionals and nurses, to ensure continuity of care and that staff competencies match specific client needs.
- Collaborates with the DSP staff to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve clients or group home needs.
- Periodically compares current and anticipated schedules with available staff; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional staff as needed.
- Participates in periodic scheduling forecast meetings.
- Participates in on-call rotation.
- Performs other related duties, as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk and/or hear.
- The employee is required to have the ability to stand on their feet for extended periods of time reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, bend, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials; must work in stressful and hectic environments.
- Requires the ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions at times.
- Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
- Requires physical and emotional endurance; must be able to work long and irregular hours at times; and requires regular and consistent attendance and physical presence at the job.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 18 years of age or older required.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle high-pressure situations calmly.
- Proficiency in scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a diplomatic approach.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and potentially take "on-call" shift
- Must hold a valid NC driver's license and be deemed an acceptable driver by RSL insurance carrier.
- 2-5 years of experience working with persons who have developmental disabilities or working in an intensive behavior, psychiatric, nursing home or childcare setting.
- Must have own transportation.
